SOLD OUT! Good for them to sell out the Troubadour tonight. That's big. Now that I am familiar with the new songs from the new album "Ritual", can not wait to hear them live once again. They played a couple of new songs last year at the EchoPlex that sounded promising.
Giant Drag was the opening band and I missed them. Who knew these bands are gonna go on so early. Usually bands go on late at the Troubadour...but not tonight. White Lies are scheduled to go on at 9:30 and they did. I went to checkout the shirts and they where...BAD! They where old shirts from two years ago. What the hell. I guess they are left overs that did not sell. They had this wolf on the front with the band logo on top or on the bottom, I forgot. I saw it from far and turned away quick. You can get better one's from there website.
HELL YEA! They played my favorite track from the new album, "The Power & The Glory" and it sounded AMAZING! Is it me or did they cut that song short? It felt short for a strange reason. "The Power & The Glory" was the second encore song and they closed it off with "Bigger Than Us". Nice. At first I was not crazy about that song, but a couple of listens, I was hooked. You should checkout the video. If you like E.T. (the movie), you are gonna love it.
The crowd tonight was older. Let's say, "ALOT of music executives". Sure enough I thought it was gonna be a very uptight crowd, but it was not. I Did not see to many young kids like the other time I saw them. Once they came out and played the first song, people where bopping and singing along. Nice. I thought it was gonna be a tough crowd.
I noticed that Harry McVeigh (lead singer) was wearing the same pant's and shoe's from last year's show at the EchoPlex (that was a great show). Groovy. And Charles Cave (Bass Guitar) was sporting a new facial thing on his face, a beard. He looked at bet like Tim Harrington (Lead Singer of "Les Savy Fav"), but Charles is better looking. It's okay but I prefer him clean cut. Let's shave that $H*T!
Once again, White Lies Rocked it OUT and the new songs sounded great. If you get a kid bouncing up and down half of the show (he was next to me of course), you did your part. Pick up the new album and you gotta see them.
\m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ - Awesome!
