Coachella.W1.(Sunday).2013

La.Roux.2013 photo laroux2013_zpsa5381129.jpg
Coachella.2013

Indio, Palm Springs
Weekend.1
Sunday.April.14th

I headed to the Gobi.Tent to catch Deep.Vally and once I was approaching the tent, I headed to Yuma.

Ahhhhh, it felt so refreshing to be in there.  I noticed a couple of us in here relaxing, dancing and sleeping? Yup, sleeping.  I would be to.  They have some comfortable couches in here.

JDH.&.Dave.P where the next DJ's up at the Yuma and they where...okay.  Ladies.Night where pretty AWESUM.  The crowd started to roll in and I wonder if they arrived to catch Jamie.xx up next?
Grimes.2013 photo grimes2013_zps2826d3fc.jpg
I was sitting in the back and I notice Jaime.xx passing by with a security guard.  No one notice him and the his band mates (The.xx).  What I loved the most is watching Romy's girlfriend kissing her and holding her hand.  YES!!!  I was very surprised that no one was watching what I was seeing.  Romy showing PDA and not even caring to get caught.  I was exited to see them that I told the girl next to me that the band members of The.xx are here and she got up quickly and grabbed her camera.  She took a picture with Oliver.  Then she went to her friend that was dancing at the dance floor and showed him the photo.  She kept pointing at my direction.  But how can you miss them, they where ALL wearing black!
Tanlines.2013 photo tanlines2013_zpsab49cdec.jpg
I headed to Gobi.Tent to catch Grimes and guess who I see? Oliver and Romy.  Once again, no one notices them and Romy's girl kissing her and holding her hand during the whole show.  I couldn't keep my eyes off them.

Tanlines was up next after Grimes and they where good.  I forgot to say, after Claire Boucher (Grimes) left the stage, a crazy fan jumped over the barricade and tried to jump on stage.  He was tackled by security and taken away.  Funny, but said.

Headed to Mojave.Tent to catch La.Roux.  James.Blake was performing and what a über crowd it was.  All the cool kids where here and I was falling asleep.  I really don't get this guy.  I took a listen to his stuff and I just couldn't get into it.  Watching him live would give me a different view...yea.

La.Roux was up next and Elly Jackson (Lead Singer) came out looking like Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Pink Panther).   The new songs sounded very promising and they added guitars to there sound, nice.
the.Faint.2013 photo thefaint2013_zps102a56e9.jpg
The night ended with the.Faint for me.  What a great way to end  the last day of weekend one of this festival.  I don't know if my ears are shoot, but was the sound a bit off in the beginning?  I think Todd Fink (Lead Singer) was a bit tipsy.  He just looked a bit all over the place then usual.  No matter what...he put on a show.

After watching the.Faint's AMAZING SHOW, I passed by the Gobi.Tent and O.M.D. was about to perform "If You Leave"...ahhhhhhh.  I wanted to catch Disclosure, but they went on at 11:10p and I was pretty much done and this sand/wind storm is killer.

Another AWESUM Coachella. Until next year.

Coachella.W1.(FRIDAY).2013

Stone.Roses.2013 photo stoneroses7_zps0ddb9b5c.jpg
Coachella.2013
Indio, Palm Springs
Weekend.1
Friday.April.12th

So far so good until the next checkpoint to get in.  Usually Friday is the easiest to get in, but in this case, it was not.  It was a HOT day and we waited almost an hour to get in.  There was a small ambush, but decided to just stay in line.
Jake.Bugg.2013 photo JakeBugg1_zps1d8ece80.jpgJake.Bugg.2013 photo JakeBugg2_zps652e322a.jpgPlaylist.2013 photo JakeBuggsetlist_zps8fbd4861.jpg
Once inside, I headed to the t-shirt stand and grabbed myself a Stone Roses and Blur shirt.  Another LONG A$$ WAIT!  Sweet Lord.
Johnny.Marr.2013 photo JohnnyMarr1_zpse6870ecb.jpg
Headed to Mojave.Tent to catch Jake.Bugg.  I loved how cocky he came out, but what a great performance once again.
Alt-J.2013 photo alt-j1_zpsbf6a4b25.jpgAlt-J.2013 photo alt-j2_zps10c4a900.jpgAlt-J.2013 photo alt-j3_zps8c3386c2.jpg
Johnny.Marr was up next and he was...okay.  He sang three Smiths.  When Noel and Liam sing Oasis songs, it works.  Not here.  Sorry Johnny, but he got the crowd going with, "A Light That Never Goes Out", "Stop Me If You Heard This One Before",  and "How Soon Is Now" (closed with).
Palma.Violets.2013 photo PalmaViolets2013_zps533b02d8.jpg
Alt-J was up next and they didn't disappoint.  I read bad reviews about there live shows, but they where GREAT.  They sounded so much like the album and this was the tent to be at 5 o'clock.  The photographers pit was filled with special people (I am guessing they paid big money to be up closer even though they have there own V.I.P. section).
Yeah.Yeah.Yeahs.2013 photo YYY1_zpsed59a6d8.jpg
Palma.Violets was the next band after Alt-J and they where entertaining to watch.  They where doing there thing and had fun doing it.   I would see them again in a smaller venue.
Yeah.Yeah.Yeahs.2013 photo YYY3_zpsf4680bef.jpg
I have been on my feet for almost five hours at the Mojave.Tent and it was time to sit, eat and wait for Yeah.Yeah.Yeahs at the.Coachella.Stage.
Yeah.Yeah.Yeahs.2013 photo YYY4_zpsabeb58cb.jpg
Karen.Ø ROCKs!  First, lets start with the outfit.  A clash of Elvis meets Liberace...AWESUM!  I bet Christian.Joy was behind this.  Yeah.Yeah.Yeahs proved that they are here to conquer tonight and they did.  They opened up with the NEW single, "Sacrilege" with a chorus.  \m/ - (Devil horns).  Can not wait to see them play on there own and get the NEW album soon.
Blur.2013 photo blur1_zpsfcb192b8.jpgBlur.2013 photo blur2_zps7414fb2d.jpg
Blur was literally a blur.  I was bored. This proves to me that I really can't get into Damon Albarn other bands.
Stone.Roses.2013 photo stoneroses1_zps3e56c577.jpgStone.Roses.2013 photo stoneroses2_zpsd4f0ad7e.jpgStone.Roses.2013 photo stoneroses3_zps745cd4e0.jpg
Up next is the most existing band I have been waiting to see again.  I think it has been 20 years since I last saw them at the.Hollywood.Palladium.  When they announced the line-up and they where booked to perform, I knew it!!!  AWESUM.  the.Stone.Roses opened up with, "I Wanna Be Adored" (perfect song to start the night) and from there it was hit after hit.  The best part of the whole show was Ian.Brown (Lead Singer) coming out...cocky (is this a bad ass English thing that I am missing here) with his maracas.  Those fucken maracas, forgot all about them.  Hilarious.  He threw a couple of them into the crowd and one landed almost next to me.  the.Stone.Roses was my highlight of Coachella.  Period!

Coachella.2012.(Saturday).W1

Noel.Gallagher.High.Flying.Birds.2012

Coachella.2012.(Day.2)
@Indio Polo Field (Indio, CA)
Saturday.April.14th

Arrived early to catch Spector and they where good.  They had a technical problem with there laptop, they decided to go on with out it.  They really didn't needed it because they sounded great!  A MUST SEE again.

The Vaccines where up next.  Another show.  They played a couple of new one's that sounded promising.  I noticed that the Vaccines are slowly getting there look down.  Not bad.

I stuck around for Azealie Banks and she was FCVKn AWESUM!!!  I was up in front and noticed the gaggle of photographers inching there way to get a snap shot of this rising star.  She played 1991 and closed the set with 212 (which got the crowd, WILD).  She just got off the stage with her dancers and the DJ stayed for a second until he walked out.  Some people did not know if that was the end.  The only way I noticed, was when the VIP section cleared off.
Spector.2012
I headed to the Sahara Tent to catch, Jacques Lu Cont and he was okay.  I took off after 30 minutes and I went to the Mojave Tent to sit for a bit.  I was just doing my thing until a undercover cops came out of nowhere and arrested a kid that was behind me.  I guess they where watching him all day.  He might of been a drug dealer.

Went to the Gobi tent to check out Buzzcocks.  I was looking at the stage and I noticed that their roadies where young Mexican kids.   They where setting up and sound checking the equipment.  At first I was a bit confused.  I was, "are not Buzzcocks older"?  Yea, they are.  These kids did a great  job with Buzzcocks equipment because they sounded good.  I stuck around for a couple of songs so I can catch Noel Gallagher at the main stage.
the.Vaccines.2012
Kaiser Chiefs where on and they where playing, "Modern Way".   Ricky Wilson (Lead Singer) of course was all over the place that he ended up 10 feet away from me.  AWESUM!!!

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Bird where up next.  When they where setting up the stage, I noticed that they brought out Noel's Goodlike Genius Award from NME and placed it on a speaker near the drums.  I love that he brought it with him.  NGHFB where good and they played two Oasis songs, "Little by Little" and closed the set with, "Don't Look Back in Anger".  Love those two songs.  I guess he really did stop playing "Wonderwall" after all.
Azealia.Banks.2012
I headed to the Mojave Tent to catch Kasabian.  Squeeze was performing (not a fan) and it felt like I was watching a cover band at Magic Mountain.  They had some cool visuals, I give them credit for that.  When they left the stage, I moved in and ended up, 5 feet away from the stage.  The crowd started to get rowdy and once they hit the stage, it got really crazy.  People where trying to push there way up front, but what a show Kasbian put on.  performed.
Buzzcocks.2012
It was a long Saturday and what a perfect way to spend my birthday.  Here at the first week of Coachella, enjoying the people walking by and hearing GREAT music.
Kaiser.Chiefs.2012
I went to the main stage to catch Radiohead.  I saw them from faraway because it was crowded.  I stuck around for a couple of songs and I decided to take off to avoid the traffic.  I couldn't believe how cold the night was today and how did some of these people knew to bring, scarfs, parkas and jackets.  How did they know?  All I brought with me was a lite thermal.

Coachella.2012.(Friday).W1

Arctic.Monkeys.2012

Coachella.2012.(Day.1)
@Indio Polo Field (Indio, CA)
Friday.April.13th

Here we go and the latest fashion trends are present at this year festival; floral prints, bright neon, 1800 century, some P.O.C. (pop of color) and that native American looking prints.  I noticed a couple of changes this year.  For example, the parking.  They moved the free parking to the other side of the street.  The traffic was not bad when I got close to the venue.

It's 12:15 and I got to see the last 10 minutes of Abe Vigoda and they closed their set with, "Throwing Shade".
Abe.Vigoda.2012
I walked around for a bit and watched some bands that I have not heard of; Wolf Gang, honeyhoney and Other Lives.  They where all okay.

It started to drizzle a bit (now that's a first) and the temperature dropped 10 degree's.  Then 5 more at night of 10 and there was a lite wind blowing making it a bit more chilly.

I went to check out what EMA is all about and I can't believe the hype.  I took off after the second song.

Went to the main stage to catch James.  FCVK, the last time I saw them was somewhere in 1990 when Laid album came out and they performed at The Palace (now called, The Avalon).  They kicked a$$ then and today.  I was happy that they played "Sit Down" and Tim Booth (Lead Singer) decided to climd down from the stage and sing with the crowd.  AWESUM!  Tim Booth (Lead Singer) looks a bit like Michael Stipe which his head shaved.

I went to the Mojave Tent to catch Grouplove.  They where okay.  I loved the way they clashed Whitney Houston song, "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" with their song, "Tongue Tied" and that almost brought me into tears.
Coachella.2012
Arctic Monkeys was AWESUM once again and I was stuck for a second between going to see Madness and then come back for Pulp at the main stage.  When the Monkeys went off, I moved up close to the main stage and decided to stay for Pulp.  It was the best thing because they kicked a$$!!!  Sorry Madness.  Jarvis Cocker (Lead Singer) was all over the place and what a performer.  Even the visuals where cool.  The last song they performed was "Common  People" and the crowd went bananas.  I think I made the right choice.
Pulp.2012
I checked out Mazzy Star and she was too mellow for me.   I stuck around for a bit and after three songs, I left.

I went to the Mojave tent and The Rapture was playing to a packed house!  I waited for M83 after The Rapture.  They started a bit late and that weird looking alien came out first.  Hey!!!! Why didn't they do that when I saw them at Nokia?  Of course they killed and once they played, "Midnight City", some of the crowd left.  WTF?!?!
M83.2012
It was 11 o'clock and I was having second thoughts about watching The Horrors and I decided to just go.  I wanted to beat the traffic.  It was a good thing that I did because there was a little traffic getting out from the parking lot.  FVCK IT's COLD tonight!!!

Culture.Collide.(Sunday).2011

jdn73,culturecollide. echopark

Culture.Collide.2011.
Day.4.
Sunday.October.9.2011
Toyota.Antics.Block.Concert

This is my first time coming to the outdoor event and I am kicking myself for
not coming last year. It's a mini Sunset/Junction. They had food trucks, live painter's painting and all sorts of other cool things. They had two stages. The smaller stage was a fold out stage. Never seen anything like it and I didn't know they made something like that. It must be imported from the Mid-West.
jdn73,culturecollide. echopark
I arrived around 6 and I thought it was gonna be hard to get in, but it wasn't.
You had to print out a ticket for this event in order to get in, but they never asked for it. They just saw your wristband and let you in. Why have us print out a ticket? Not very green.
jdn73,culturecollide. echopark,clapyourhandssayyea,indie,rock,music,festival
Clap Your Hands Say Yea went on time and they where not as bad as I thought they where gonna be. Not the most exciting band, but they where okay and they sounded good. I heard bad stories about them live. They where okay on my case and I would see them again.
jdn73,culturecollide. echopark,clapyourhandssayyea,indie,rock,music,festival,css,datarock
Next at the fold out stage was Datarock. They where good, but I had to leave.
I was next to a speaker that was really FCVKn up my ear. I noticed I was not
the only one having this problem. So after three songs, I left and walked
around. I noticed a bunch of family here. I guess they are here for CSS.
jdn73,culturecollide. echopark,clapyourhandssayyea,indie,rock,music,festival,css
I went to the main stage to catch CSS and it was already getting crowded with
people. CSS hit the stage right when Datarock finished(they are quick here).
Lovefoxxx came out wearing a Catwomen costume with here mask all bedazzled. I notices that Adriano Cintra (Bass Player) was not on stage.
Someone else filled in his spot. Lovefoxxx (Lead Singer) did not even mention him on his
where abouts. Was he sick or did he leave the band? What ever the case, I miss
his crazy energy, but Lovefoxxx took care of that. She was making jokes, "okay
guys, dance like Shakira" and she would do the dance moves. Funny.
Once again, little by little she would strip down to her short shorts and stage
dive into the crowd.

In the middle of the set, the main speakers went out, but the stage monitors
where on. People stopped jumping and dancing, but once they
fixed it, people cheered and went back to what they where doing. All the new
songs sounded GREAT. They started out with "Red Alert" and ended with "City
Girl". If you haven't gotten the NEW album, "La Liberacion" it's a MUST. What a GREAT comeback album. The put the fun back.
jdn73,culturecollide. echopark,clapyourhandssayyea,indie,rock,music,festival,css,datarock,ganggangdance
Next band was Gang Gang Dance on the fold out stage. I keep hearing so much
about them and I am waiting to see what kind of show they are gonna put on. The
person next to me was so excited to see them and he couldn't wait to hear some
killer dance music. Dance music? I was...confused because they are far away
from dance music. Gang Gang Dance are Avant Garde Experimental dance band. Maybe heheard a remix.

Gang Gang Dance came out and Lizzi Bougatsos (Lead Singer) came out wearing a
mosquito net looking outfit (Now that is Avant Garde). They had okay visuals, but they where NOT holding my interest. After 2 songs, I left and walked around. The event was slowly wrapping things up. I wanted more and it was only 9 o'clock. They said midnight. Maybe there was more in Tiax. I'll be back next year because for twenty bucks, it's a deal.

\m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ - AWESOME!
