Coasts.(LiVE).2015

Coasts.2015
the.Roxy.Theatre

Monday.August.10th

The concert season has started for me and now back to blogging.  It's been a year that I haven't written anything about a show and what a perfect band to start my blog again.  Actually, the only band I wanted to see at Coachella this year.  Glad that Coasts came back and headlined there own tour.  They kicked a$$ tonight!  I almost missed this show because I forgot to key it in my phone.  Thanks for the newsletter Goldenvoice.

I arrived to the venue and the Roxy was packed with so many young kids.  They where getting down with the opening act.  Not a clue who the band.  When they got off stage, the kid's faces started to glow.  Everybody around me where on there phones, showing pictures and watching video clips. Pretty funny, but I kind of like it in a crazy way.

I was a little nervous at first because I wasn't seeing any regular faces.  I was saying to myself, "is this the English band Coasts or someone else"?  This young crowd was not helping.

Coasts hit the stage and what a performance!  Loved it!  The kids where dancing and singing along with there smartphones to prove it.  I didn't even know they where a 5 piece band. I know I should of goggle them, but I like to be surprised and I was.  I have friends who watch YouTube videos of the bands live before they actually buy a ticket to the show.  I try not to do that.

But for sure, I'll catch Coasts again in the future. I was entertained from start to finish and they sounded great!  Rock on...Coasts!

Digitalism.(L!VE)...

Digitalism.2013
The Troubadour (L.A., CA)
Friday.May.17th

What?!?! Digitalism at the.Troubadour?!?!  That is crazy and...PERFECT!  The stage set was simple.  There where only two stands (reminded me of Kraftwerk) and a huge white heart, just like the recent album cover as the back drop.  I love how Digitalism always changes things up.  It's never the same.

It's nine o'clock and the place still looks empty for a SOLD OUT show.  Maybe some people think that they are gonna go on late.

There was no opening band, but a live DJ spinning.

It's ten o'clock and the place was...PACKED!  Digitalism hit the stage at 10:30 pm.   What a show so far.  It was a non-stop music performance.  They played two songs I wanted to hear (Circles and closed with, Pogo), but no "Digitaliam in Cairo" or "Two Hearts".  Sad face.

Beside the lady with her light up high heels, Digitalism had a crazy light show that could of caused someone to have an epileptic seizure. But other then that, it was...

"I am so glad to be here again and sharing this experience with my wife", I think thats what Aino Jawo (Singer/Programmer) said.  I was surprised and happy to hear that they where...GAY!!! That explains why a bunch of ladies are here tonight.   I sometimes don't make a connection.

Tonight's crowd knew who they came to see because the last time I saw them, not so many people knew (like myself) about them and what to expect.  Icona.Pop threw another GREAT show and topped last years performance at The EchoPlex.

Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt (Icona.Pop members) looked good as always.  They got the crowd going from the moment they hit the stage.  Almost everyone on the ground floor was dancing (very rare to see in Hollywood).  The best part of the show was when Aino and Caroline started to hand out glow sticks to the crowd.  Rave time!

Thirty minutes in and we all wanted more, but that was pretty much it.  Besides bringing  people on stage at the end, this show was...
