Tuesday.September.11th

I think personally, they should make this a day a holiday and in other news, I just can't believe two GREAT bands came out today (The Presets and The xx).  But to today is the day to remember and never forget.

I wanted into the venue and they where playing Everything but the Girl!!!   Ahhhhhhhhhh.  It's a SOLD OUT show tonight!!!  Who new.  Right On!!!

I missed the opening act, but the second band sounded a bit like DFA1974.  They where good.  DZ DeathRays was the name and they where a wild bunch.  Check them out.
TRUST.2012
I am looking into the crowd and its very young.  It feels great to correct a young girl that the song that is playing is not Erasure, it's New Order.  She challenged me for the name of the song and the album it's in.  I absolutely had a brain fart on both questions, but I described her the album by saying, "it's the one with all the flowers on the album" (Power, Corruption, Lies).  She was like, "of course".  DAM!!!
TRUST.2012
TRUST went on and of course they killed it!  Robert Alfons (Lead Singer) is always entertaining to watch.   He was bouncing and moving around so much that,  I was starting to question if he was actually singing or lip syncing?   You never heard him catch his breath or make a sign, I am just saying.  I was also trying to figure out what he was wearing.  It looked like beige sweat pants and a black mesh top.  Okay.

Beside the kids trying to start a mosh pit...really?!  This is not hard core $H!T, kids.  I was missing the live drums.  Bring them back!

TRUST and Blood Orange (L!VE) @EchoPlex...

Tuesday.April.10th

You can call me crazy, but yea, I am at a concert after arriving from New York City a couple of hours ago.  Once they added TRUST to this bill, I really had to attend this show.  TRUST is my accidentally new find.  I saw them last year in NYC opening up for Balam Acab and they blew me away.  The progressive beats and that unique haunting voice made my night.  I left the concert after a couple of Balam Acab songs because they where not drawing me in.
TRUST.2012

I arrived early so I can get a good spot for Trust and sure enough, I did.  The venue was a bit sparse and Trust went on as schedule.  They added a new member to the band and Maya Postepski (Synth's) is now the drummer.  I guess the other guy is temporary for the tour.
TRUST.2012
Robert Alfons (Lead Singer) voice sounded like the album which is hard to pull off sometimes.  The new album TRST is so FCVKn AWESUM!!!  Every track is a hit.  The stage was simple and they got the crowd going from the moment they dropped the first beat..  They did not play "Candy Walls" and I was looking forward to it.
Blood.Orange.2012
Blood Orange was next and I noticed the venue getting busy.  Dave Haynes was setting up his stuff and the way he was placing everything, it looked like it was only going to be him.  Sure enough, he was... AMAZING!  If you don't know who Dave Haynes is, He is  a genius!  Dave constantly reinvents himself and he does it right, all the time.  Starting off as a Techo-Rave rock band called Test Icicles (Awesum), but they break up because of the non-stop touring.  Dave decides to move to Brooklyn and start a folk band called, Lightspeed Champion (another Awesum band he created).  I saw them a couple years ago at The Troubadour.  He was good and he had a band with him.  I guess he put Lightspeed Champion on hold and started Blood Orange.

He had visuals, but then the music that was programmed in his laptop started to skip a couple of times that he decided to just play his electric guitar.  He was...KILLING !T.  If that was to happen to someone else, they would of stormed off stage.  Maybe, cancel the whole show after that.  I was proud that he did not do that.

After a couple of technical difficulties, Dave Haynes (Blood Orange) pulled out a GREAT show!  I decided to leave after Blood Orange and I was not sticking around to see Oh Land.   Before I left, I stopped at the shirt stand and wanted to pick up a Trust shirt.  I noticed that Robert Alfons (Lead Singer) was there and I complimented him and his band on what a great show they did tonight.  He was very thankful, but they did not have my size...DAM!

Balam.Acab.2011

Thursday.November.18.2011

le.poisson.rouge is a REALLY COOL place.  I always wanted to come here and now I have the opportunity.

Once I stepped in, they where playing Depeche.Mode's Black Celebration album in it's entirety (this place just won my heart even more) and I saw some kids singing along and dancing.  Groovy.

le.poisson.rouge is by NYU on the famous Bleeker St.  It made me fill I was at some hip and edgy joint in Brooklyn.  There are still cool places in the city still, Awesome!
jdn73,balamarab,coldwave,music,concert,lepoissonrouge,trust,truewomanhoodThe first band, True.Womanhood where really good.  They are a synth/rock band form DC.  At first I was not to crazy about them, but after the second song, they had me tapping my feet to some cool dance beats.
jdn73,balamarab,coldwave,music,concert,lepoissonrouge,trust,truewomanhoodThe second band, Trust was really GOOD!  They had this really cool sound that threw me back to early industrial music when it was minimal and fresh.  Only two members in the band, a girl (synth) and a guy (vocals and programming).  Towards the end of there set, the girl decided to show some personality.  She had a cute little dance, but she stopped it very quickly.  Once I came home I looked them up and there was not much information about them.  All I know, they are from Canada.

So far, LOVE what I am hearing tonight and lets see what Balam.Acab has in store because it's already 1:00am.
jdn73,balamarab,coldwave,music,concert,lepoissonrouge,trust,truewomanhoodBalam.Acab went on, but they had just a little problem with the second song.  They are two members in the band and it's the same lineup as Trust, but a little different.  The girl is the singer and the guy programs and also sings, but...BOY, are they young!  They look 15 years old.

Balam.Arab went on around 1:30am and after a couple of songs I was pretty much done.  They bored me.  I wanted to get wowed after two good bands, but I wasn't.  This is a Cold.Wave.  I am glad I came or I would never would of heard of True.Womanhood and Trust.
