White.Lies

Culture Collide

Saturday

October.9.2010

I am here early and there is a band up there and all the members are wearing sunglasses. It must be really BRIGHT up there since the lights on stage are dim. Groovy. I went to the shirt stand and once again, no White Lies T-shirt. DAM! I was hoping they would have some or at least a sticker. Oh well. I guess they do not need money. I left the shirt table and I went to see if they let you go upstairs, they blocked it off. They should let us roam around. JERKS!

I decided to sit down because none of these bands are catching my interest, so far. I guess I was taking alot of the sofa space that these girls decided to join me. They where funny. They where both from Orange County (I asked because they where so direct and I knew they where not from here). They came to the show just to have fun. They have not heard of any of the bands. A friend told them to go see White Lies and I told them; "Good friend and good choice". They left to get more drinks and they where kind enough to ask if I wanted one, but I said "no". Rock on O.C. girls. The last band announced they last song, so I got up and headed to the front. While I was walking to the main stage, I noticed that its not as busy as it was yesturday. Why is that? Who knows, but I think White Lies are good as Klaxons. Which, I can not wait to hear new stuff from "White Lies".

It was easy to get to the front and I noticed alot of ladies up here. I am watching the roadies set up the stage and I see that they have an extra synth and a microphone from last time I saw them. They added a new member and are they going Editors? They taped the playlist on the floor and I see that they are gonna open up with two new songs, COOL. Next to the playlist I noticed other papers on the floor and it looks like lyrics. We might be getting a sneak peak of the new songs live today. Sweet.

AWESOME performance once again! The new tracks sounded very promising. They did not change much (which is great because I thought they where gonna go Editors on us), they are still this moody dark rock band with a new member on guitar and synth. I loved when they played there old stuff because you heard people singing along to every note with Harry McVeigh (lead vocals and guitar). Then we had this crazy guy shouting some songs to play, like, E.S.T. (they did not play). They payed no attention, but the crowd went wild when they played "Unfinished Business". YES! Even though the crowd was mellow (no crazy drunks or some a$$hole pushing there way to the front) they where into it, even when they played the new stuff. They closed the night with "Farewell to the Fairground". What a perfect song to end this night. AWESOME SHOW!

EDiTORs (LiVE!) @the.House.of.Blues (San Diego, CA)

.....Strangelove, thats how my love goes.....ooooops! I mean.....There is a bullet in Ur heeeeeeeead. Give a dog a bone. But teach him how 2 kiiiiiiiiiiiill them.....I 4got there 4 a sec. The concert started so well until..........the CRAZY FCVKn security guy was goin crazy in stoppin evry person w/a camera. What the hell is that ALL about. He even stopped the people w/there camera phones. the PHONEs! cum on. They never use 2 do this here. But it was funny just watchin him crack down any 1 leftin there arms just 2 get a shot of the band. But when he left his post.....there we where, back in takin pics.....I just decided 2 wait until the end 2 take pics......what can he do now? 2 late 2 kick me out. the show is over. Take my camera.....I do not think so. But other then that......i got sum good pix..........its was a perfect day in San Diego......it rained. What a perfect mood 4 this concert. Am I the only 1 who is not 2 crazy about the new album? It was a good thing 2 change it around on this album but I am not diggin it. LOVE THEM! but they need 2 pick up there guitars again 4 the next album. BUT! it did not stop me 2 C them live in SD and C how they R gonna per4m the songs live......and U know what......they KiLLLED iT!....They always ROCK iT OUT!........I came close 2 C-ing them again @the.WiTERN but the concert felt so short in SD. So I really did not want 2 spend anymor $$$. I decided 2 spend my $$$ on a shirt. They had sum good 1's. They even had a skull shirt w/the band logo on the side.....I was thinkin.....sure.....but then again.....it felt so......ED.HARDY w/out the studs and glitter.....so no. the.DRUMs (LiVE!) @SpaceLand

Let's C what Boy George is raving about....."the.DRUMs R a band 2 watch out 4" say's NME. So sure enough I went 2 there myspace page an added them and looked @there tour log. SpaceLand......on Monday......sure. Mondays R free so.......let's go and C what people R ravin about over seas. I knew 2 arrive early....thank god I did. Already a line but not as big when I saw EDiTORs here on a Monday. But once i got on line around 9.........10minutes later.......people where cumin in packs and the line was gettin bigger. AWESUM! Good sign so far. So Xcited 2 C this band, but sumtimes it can B dangers. Big hype, sumtimes......disappointments. It's 945p and they let us in and when i got close 2 the door......there was this guy tellin the doorman "I am on the.DRUMs guest list". I thought this was free. I guess. A list 4 a free concert....okay. so yea. The 1st band went on and it was.......not good. The drummer was the best thing 2 watch. He was all over the place with a huge smile......2 funny. I walked around 2 C what R they sellin. No shirts.....just the EP. Man. It started 2 get really crowded so I went back 2 the stage. 2minutes latr.....the.DRUMs hit the stage. No wonder (@1st) Boy George likes them.....pretty boys. They have females in the band.....? Oh......backup singers. Cool. Just 2 let U know......I have not heard any of there music yet.....but once they started w/the 1st song.....I WAS iN! AWESUM! Loved the crazy tambourin player (also plays the bass guitar). He was jumpin up in the air so high and hittin that thing all over the stage. I was waitin 4 him 2 hit the singer. NOW.......the singer was also great 2 watch. He had the dance of Morrissey mixed w/Ian Curtis. It was funny 2 watch but in a good way. LOVED iT! very surf pop music w/a modern twist......sumthin fresh w/backup singers......it was REALLY GOOD! I wood not mind 2 C them again. U wood think they where a European band but.....they R from Brooklyn.....of course. HELL YEA! I am in w/Boy George. Shirts......PEOPLE. next time i hope.

ViDEOs:

Okay, But they should go back 2 Guitars.

“There is a bullet in your head. Give a dog a bone. But teach him how to kill them. Pour salt water onto wounds”. HELL YEA! the new EDITORs album is out “In This Light and On This Evening”. U must download these songs; “Bricks and Mortar”, “Paillon (very DM)”, “You Don’t Know Love”, “The Boxer” and “Like Treasure”. The rest is just.....okay. I was a bit disappointed but U know what, they tried sumthin new. And they choose a good producer 2 do this album; the FLOOD. Now go back 2 guitars.
