Identity, love, sexuality, and family are explored in this contemporary drama. When shy Michelle meets outgoing Lou, they are surprised by the connection that sparks between them. They are both pre-op transsexuals, and the quest to understand their own identities deepens as an unlikely friendship—and romance—blossoms. Michelle and Lou embark on a journey of self-acceptance, but they can’t shut out the rest of the world, where many people, including their own families, are not so accepting of the path they’re on. The two must confront those who aren’t willing to live and let live, with dire consequences.

Opening night of The.Interlopers (June.17.2011) is SOLD OUT! but there are still tickets available for Saturday and Sunday shows.

The Interlopers is a NEW play written by Gary Lennon (Writer/Director). Gary Lennon has written on TV shows like Justified (consulting Producer), The Shield (Executive Story Editor) and The Unusuals (C0-Producer). He has also Directed/Written his first movie ".45" (staring; Milla Jovovich, Angus Macfadyen and Stephen Dorff) and ".45" made it's world premiere on stage in London at The Hampstead Theatre in 2010. Now on June 17, 2011 (SOLD OUT!), The Bootleg Theater World Premieres The Interlopers.

The Interlopers is a Transgender Romeo/Juliet story set in the transgender community of Los Angeles. The play explores the theme of identity by following a group of misfits banded together as a family.

The Interlopers, by Gary Lennon, is a Romeo and Juliet story set in the transgender world of Los Angeles. Through the theme of identity, the play explores a group of unique misfits who call themselves family, and who are brave enough to challenge the obstacle course called life. Examining these singular and special people, the play follows them on their journeys to being their whole and authentic selves.
