I got out of my car when it stopped raining and I noticed that some people did the same. The concert tonight is SOLD OUT (cool). It's good to see Glass.Candy at a bigger place. The first time I saw them was when they played the Troubadour three years ago (I think) and it was half empty. They bored me that night, but when they played Coachella two years ago, they where better. So let's see what happens tonight.

Austra was the opening band and they where really good. Another band on my list to see again. I thought it was an all girl band because of the E.P. cover. They are two girls and a guy in the band. The lead singer reminded me of Nika Rosa (Zola Jesus lead singer). She sounded kind of like her and moved like her too (just a bit). The more I was watching them, the more they reminded me of Zola Jesus, but a bit up beat. Check them out.

Okay...that was a bizarre concert experience. I don't mind people bumping into me, but if you do it non-stop, it's a problem. I know it's a concert and you are having a good time, but come on. Stand your ground. I kindly gave the guy a tap to get the hint, but he got crazy on me. He started to dance very wild that he bumped into me ALOT. I was okay with it until he almost made me fall. So, I pushed him (keep in mind, I never do that. He had it coming). He throw a punch (yes, a punch) that hit me on the shoulder. Okay. What the FCVK just happen. The punch did not hurt and he was shouting; "Stop FCVKn a$$hole, stop". Okay. When he said that, I wanted to laugh because of the way he said it. I just ignored him. Once again, he bumped into me. I really do not known what's his deal at this point. Maybe he forgot to take his med's or maybe be a victim of a fag bash. Who knows, but he was bothering the people in front of me as well. I was watching him from the corner of my eye and he started to flip me off. I guess he wanted me to flip out on him, but that was not gonna happen. A person behind me started to hold me from fighting (which that was funny to me) but that was not in my mind. What was on my mind was peeing on him. I over heard him tell his friend that he wanted to punch my face in. I unzipped my fly and sure enough, that pu$$y moved. Of course.

Wow, that was crazy.

Other then that, Glass.Candy was great. When Ida No (vocals) came out, someone shouted Snooki at her because of her little bump. Funny. You gotta love Jersey Shore, but no newer stuff (what?!?!?). I was hoping to that. Oh well, at least I got punched at a Glass.Candy concert.

FCVK! I am tired of this hot weather. It was 95 yesterday and today is 90 but it feels 100. I want the cold and the rain from last week. Besides my rant about the weather, I am so excited to see Gary Numan tonight. I never seen him live and I was bend out of shape when he did not perform at Coachella this year because of the volcano. I heard alot of good things about him live so let's see. I read that he is playing "The Pleasure Principle" album only. AWESUM!

I walked in and I went straight for the shirt stand and then I realized, "he owns his own plane, he doesn't need money". I left and headed to the main floor. I looked around and it's a older crowd. Did not see anyone under 30 here at all. Some of these older folks don't care how they come to a concert. I see some of them wearing shorts with flip-flops. I know its warm out, but come on, put a little effort. Did not see any cool kids with skinny jeans, Toms, Converse, asymmetrical haircuts or plaid.

Over the P.A. I hear them playing Zola Jesus "Night" (beautiful song) being played. The person next to me thought it was Fever Ray. Okay. I heard this guy talking to his friend that he was here for The Knife concert (I was too). Would he not know that? I had to correct him. There was another person next to me wanting to know who was playing and I told him. I am the Zola Jesus promoter.

Gary Numan went on at 10 something and he was on it! He sounded great. I wonder why he decided to play "Cars" towards the middle of the show. I guess people expected that song to finish the night (like me). After they played that song, they cleared the stage of his synths. They brought him out a guitar and that's when it went into his electro hard rock set. It sounded good. It reminded me of Nine Inch Nails (I was trying to look for Trent in the crowd) and IAMX. I was looking around and some people where out of it. It seemed like they wanted to hear the old stuff. They woke up when he played a really cool remake of, "Are "Friend's" Electric?". It was Awesum. After that, he went off stage and came back with his hardcore electro rock stuff for three songs. Some people where into it and some where not. I heard about his rock stuff and it was okay. Over all, he was good. Rock on Gary! \m/

"She is so self involved. Look at her, she wraps herself with the mic wires. Now I know why you like her", said this guy to his girlfriend after the show. I was racing up to hear more, but they moved to fast.

I am at The Echo once again to catch Zola Jesus once again. You would think with all the press that Nika Rosa (lead singer) has been having this place would be pack and sold out, but it was not. She has opened up for Fever Ray, The xx and the English like her. What's wrong with this picture.? People not into it?

Zola Jesus went on schedule and I noticed that the stage was a bit empty from last time. Are they afraid that she might go crazy with equipment again? Well she did go crazy with the microphone wire. I thought she was gonna trip because she was using it as a prop. She wrapped it around her arms, legs and she put it on top of her head. The more I was looking at her, she is a performance artist. Towards the last song, Nika Rosa got off the stage and looked as if she wanted to climb the walls of the venue by the ladies room. Since she could not, she just sang by the bathroom pacing back and forth and went back on stage to finish the song and that was the last song she played. AWESUM!

Zola Jesus - Stridulum II

Is the album cover creepy enough to give you an idea what the artist is gonna sound? Of course and you need to buy this album NOW! "Stridulum II" by Zola Jesus. If you are into Fever Ray and Siouxsie & the Banshees, this is for you. Every track on this E.P. is good, but "Night" is my favorite track. It's starts off with whispering voices and then comes a shriek (like something form Blair Witch) that introduces this amazing voice from Nika Roza Danilova - aka Zola Jesus. It's the most amazing track on that E.P. I was disappointed that "Sea Talk" is not included. "Sea Talk" is another amazing song that you need to listen. Go download "Stridulum" and see them live with The xx at the Hollywood Palladium this September. It's a MUST. Nika gives you a show. Read my past blog on Zola Jesus concert at The Echo. ZOLA.JESUS LiVE! @the.ECHO (Los Angeles, CA)

There was a huge line to get in even though you where on will call. The line moved quick and once I was in, it is light in here. Of course they are playing the Creatures and a couple of Sioux songs & early Joy Division (Warsaw). So far I like the crowd. All in black and some are wearing white powder makeup. So Goth it is 2nite. It feels af if I just stepped into the early 80s until the opening band came out. Now it feels like I just stepped into some crazy 70's space age $H*T. This band came out wearing these space age outfits. The sound was very 70s cheesy rock. I looked into the crowd and I see some older people In the crowd. This band is s trip. I have no idea if this band is new or old. Everyone up there looks young except the guitarist. He looks like he is pushing 70. When I arrived at home I looked up that crazy band and there name is The Fancy Space People. The older guy in the group was Don Boles of The Germs. That explains the crowd. Rock on and pack it in.
Zola Jesus went on around 12:20am (so Goth) and they where good. They are 3 members in the group. Both guys play the synthesizer. The lead singer was female. Nika Roza Danilova is her name and I loved that she kept walking back and forth alot on the stage like a witch. Well, she did look like one with her long blond hair and black dress with a little hunch. Nika kept on grabbing mic stands from the stage floor and putting them on the front. I guess she needed some props. Then she kindly put them away and grab a chair. She stood on it for awhile then put it away with the mic's. She was entertaining to watch. She even went into the crowd and did her thing. Walking back and forth like she was on stage. But I do not see why they compare her to Siouxsie Sue. Nika has her own thing going on here in Zola Jesus. I like it. Once again, they are from here (Arizona) and they are getting Huge press in England. They open up for Fever Ray in there European Tour. That's HUGE. Good for them. I would see them again. Is that "Cities in Dust" by Siouxsie & the Banshees? How funny. The venue played it after they got off stage. Funny.
