I got out of my car when it stopped raining and I noticed that some people did the same. The concert tonight is SOLD OUT (cool). It's good to see Glass.Candy at a bigger place. The first time I saw them was when they played the Troubadour three years ago (I think) and it was half empty. They bored me that night, but when they played Coachella two years ago, they where better. So let's see what happens tonight.

Austra was the opening band and they where really good. Another band on my list to see again. I thought it was an all girl band because of the E.P. cover. They are two girls and a guy in the band. The lead singer reminded me of Nika Rosa (Zola Jesus lead singer). She sounded kind of like her and moved like her too (just a bit). The more I was watching them, the more they reminded me of Zola Jesus, but a bit up beat. Check them out.

Okay...that was a bizarre concert experience. I don't mind people bumping into me, but if you do it non-stop, it's a problem. I know it's a concert and you are having a good time, but come on. Stand your ground. I kindly gave the guy a tap to get the hint, but he got crazy on me. He started to dance very wild that he bumped into me ALOT. I was okay with it until he almost made me fall. So, I pushed him (keep in mind, I never do that. He had it coming). He throw a punch (yes, a punch) that hit me on the shoulder. Okay. What the FCVK just happen. The punch did not hurt and he was shouting; "Stop FCVKn a$$hole, stop". Okay. When he said that, I wanted to laugh because of the way he said it. I just ignored him. Once again, he bumped into me. I really do not known what's his deal at this point. Maybe he forgot to take his med's or maybe be a victim of a fag bash. Who knows, but he was bothering the people in front of me as well. I was watching him from the corner of my eye and he started to flip me off. I guess he wanted me to flip out on him, but that was not gonna happen. A person behind me started to hold me from fighting (which that was funny to me) but that was not in my mind. What was on my mind was peeing on him. I over heard him tell his friend that he wanted to punch my face in. I unzipped my fly and sure enough, that pu$$y moved. Of course.
glasscandy,jdn73,echoplex
Wow, that was crazy.
glasscandy,jdn73,echoplex
Other then that, Glass.Candy was great. When Ida No (vocals) came out, someone shouted Snooki at her because of her little bump. Funny. You gotta love Jersey Shore, but no newer stuff (what?!?!?). I was hoping to that. Oh well, at least I got punched at a Glass.Candy concert.

Ouch! "Good luck with your career", was said from someone down in the crowd to School Of Seven Bells (the opening band). When I'm not crazy about a band, I just don't clap. For someone to be that mean spirited is FCVKd up. It take balls to be up there to perform and get people to listen. I guess some people have there own way to express themselves.

Beside that comment, people where digging "School Of Seven Bells", (was it because some of the members use to be in The Secret Machine). The Secret Machine was a cool band, but I did not hear the connection. I give respect to Interpol because they always helps out other bands that they like or they are friends with and share them with us.

I looked around the place they performed (UCSD campus). It was not bad. It felt like I was at a high school dance and I was a chaperon. To top it off, I saw this 15 year old girl wearing coochie cutters! Pretty crazy funny $H*T. That did not help. Wow. Thank God she moved up closer to the front or I had to move. Other then that, It was great to be on the floor once again to see them. Not up in the bleachers (even though they did have bleachers).
interpol,jdn73,UCSD
Interpol went on and Paul Banks was sporting a new look. Not bad. From where I was standing, he looked like David Beckum. Really! He had this fohawk with a mullet. At first I was, "Nooooooooo!" and "Why?!?!". I got over it and I was digging the new Mr. Banks. He looks tougher as if he was fronting a hard rock band. All he needed was a chain (maybe that's next).

Thumbs up with this show and double thumbs up for playing "The New". What?!?! I was in shock because that's my favorite Interpol song. I don't hear that song get played live as much, ever. That made my day. After the show, I saw my friend Blanca (HARD CORE iNterpol fan). She just saw them at San Francisco and she is gonna see them at Santa Barbara next. WOW! I wonder if she is gonna see them at Coachella? Let's see.

Les Savy Fav
@EchoPlex
Friday.January.28.2011

It's great to see that there is a line to get in for Les Savy Fav. The last time I saw them, they opened up for Yeah Yeah Yeahs in 2003 at The Fonda. That's when Karen O would always be drunk on stage. Ahhhhh, the good times. From what I remember from that concert, they where...CRAZY, well the lead singer (Tim Harrington) is the crazy one. Sure enough, he still is.

Besides them putting on a good show, Tim is still the person to watch. He came out wearing a Pope hat and a wig (which I thought he grown his hair out). Tim slowly took off the hat and his wig between songs. My eyes where on him at all times. He went into the crowd maybe four times. He climbed the rafters and went all the way up to the pillar's of the EchoPlex ceiling. He was singing up there. Then, he decided to lay on it. Funny guy. Tim came down from it, but at first, I thought he was gonna jump. Thank God he didn't. Imagine if he did. He would of injured some fans.
lessavyfav,jdn73
It was interesting to watch his bandmates as well. How do they put up with his craziness? He kissed his guitar player (just a peck) and he lifted this guys shirt and made sounds on his belly. He is so comfortable with his sexuality, but I don't think he is gay. I think it's all for show.

Right before the encore, they played there hit song, "Let's Get Out Of Here" (which was on my top 50 songs of 2010). It's so great that they are now getting notice since they been around for quite awhile. Just recently I heard that song on TV. You know what, I am all for it. Who cares. Do what you gotta do to get notice. Who listens to radio anyway? I don't. I stopped listening to KROQ when they started playing Metal and the same songs where played every two hours. Plus, all the great DJ's left that broke bands.
lessavyfav,jdn73
When Les Savy Fav came back from there encore, Tim broke out with some coochie cutters. Hot! The crazy thing that I did not want to see was one of his nut sack's. He was shoving the mic down his shorts and he pulled the wire and he exposed us with a nut. $H*T! That took the cake.

Monday.January.24.2011

SOLD OUT! Good for them to sell out the Troubadour tonight. That's big. Now that I am familiar with the new songs from the new album "Ritual", can not wait to hear them live once again. They played a couple of new songs last year at the EchoPlex that sounded promising.

Giant Drag was the opening band and I missed them. Who knew these bands are gonna go on so early. Usually bands go on late at the Troubadour...but not tonight. White Lies are scheduled to go on at 9:30 and they did. I went to checkout the shirts and they where...BAD! They where old shirts from two years ago. What the hell. I guess they are left overs that did not sell. They had this wolf on the front with the band logo on top or on the bottom, I forgot. I saw it from far and turned away quick. You can get better one's from there website.
whitelies,jdn73
HELL YEA! They played my favorite track from the new album, "The Power & The Glory" and it sounded AMAZING! Is it me or did they cut that song short? It felt short for a strange reason. "The Power & The Glory" was the second encore song and they closed it off with "Bigger Than Us". Nice. At first I was not crazy about that song, but a couple of listens, I was hooked. You should checkout the video. If you like E.T. (the movie), you are gonna love it.

The crowd tonight was older. Let's say, "ALOT of music executives". Sure enough I thought it was gonna be a very uptight crowd, but it was not. I Did not see to many young kids like the other time I saw them. Once they came out and played the first song, people where bopping and singing along. Nice. I thought it was gonna be a tough crowd.
whitelies,jdn73
I noticed that Harry McVeigh (lead singer) was wearing the same pant's and shoe's from last year's show at the EchoPlex (that was a great show). Groovy. And Charles Cave (Bass Guitar) was sporting a new facial thing on his face, a beard. He looked at bet like Tim Harrington (Lead Singer of "Les Savy Fav"), but Charles is better looking. It's okay but I prefer him clean cut. Let's shave that $H*T!

Once again, White Lies Rocked it OUT and the new songs sounded great. If you get a kid bouncing up and down half of the show (he was next to me of course), you did your part. Pick up the new album and you gotta see them.

\m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ - Awesome!
