So far, the treble is killing me.  I am looking around and I thought I was the only one putting my finger in my ear.

I saw the set list and Tiga goes on at midnight and Soulwax at 1 am.  I am looking around the crowd and it's a mix of young and middle age.  I see a girl (dressed in a tiger outfit) that decided to wear her Halloween costume tonight. Groovy.   Not to far from her, I see a guy dancing with his cane.  It reminded me of that scene in Mary Poppins, when they are in the park dancing and singing with the animals.  Pretty funny. 
I don't know who was the first DJ (Zombie Nation), but it looked like he was having some problems.  He kept signalling the tech people and he flipped them off and waved goodbye.  D!VA.  The more I look into the crowd, I don't see one single person dressed in TechnoColor (that's what I call the kids at these Rave events in L.A.).  Not even one loud color of clothing.  Almost everyone is in a dark shade of color.  Thank you. 
Tiga went on and I was not to crazy about his set.  I think I am gonna scratch him off like Felix da Housecat.  It's all that crazy noise (Electro-Techno).  Everyone went crazy went he played, "Mind Deminsion" (a single of his from last year), but they did not go crazy when he played, "Shoes".  It was not the original version of the song, it was a remix of it which I was not a fan of. Towards the end, he played, Friendly Fires "Blue Cassette" (a song with actual vocals) and it was a remix, which I think he did. It was the only good song that I  actually moved to.  There might be still a chance.
Soulwax was up next and what a performance.  They topped there show from the last time I saw them in L.A.  I think that was 4 or 3 years ago at Avaland.  They got rid of there white suits and went with lite blue that looked a bit gray.  Soulwax sounded great  and if they play there cards right, they could be the void for LCD Soundsystem.  They played a couple of new songs that sounded VERY promising.  
Everything was going good until that drunk guy came out of nowhere.  He pushed some people so he could be up front.  People made some faces and kindly asked him to leave, but he did not budge.  He just payed no attention and just danced and bumped in to people.  Now, if this happened in L.A., this guy would of been pushed out or punched.  Not here,  they just yelled at him to move.  Towards the end,  they danced with him.  He left for awhile and then he came back and the people slowly pushed him away.  There where some other crazy drunks around, but they kept it together.

I thought Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs was gonna play live, but it was a DJ set. Sure enough, once I got in, he was over. :(

This $H*T (HARD) was crazy 2 get in. I do not know how many times I had to show my FCVKn ticket. The ticket they sent me through the mail was a not even a ticket. So I had to stand on this huge line to get my actual ticket. All this bull$H*T made me miss (well catch the last five minutes) "Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs".

The crowd brought me back to the rave scene in the mid 90s when it was got commercial. The crazy Day-Glo outfits are out (still?!), but no backpacks or glowsticks in sight. Thank God they did not allow that crap in.

Fake.Blood packed the dancefloor. I heard his remixes, but not his DJ mixes and from what I heard, it was good. What a relief from that superstar Dj Destruto. He had his mic to pump up the crowd. Can't his set speak for itself and to top it off, he throws on a video of Charlie Cheen.

Now that I am on the side lines just standing and looking around at the crowd, it's a trip. The security here is so high that I am catching every crazy $H*T that is going on. Kids putting liquor in there water bottles. Some smoking pot up at the balcony and security is busy trying to control the people in the pit from coming in and out. While some are not looking, people are jumping over the rail to get in the pit. Some of the DJ's played classic ElectroClash tunes, Tiga's "Burning Down" and Green Velvet's "La La Land" (both great songs), but they have been remixed in a good way.

Simian Mobile Disco went on around 12:45am. If I would of known that, I would of checked out "Chapel Club" (I am kicking myself for this). SMD's tower is getting smaller each time I see them. They had different lights this time and it was kick a$$. But once again, Simian Mobile Disco threw an AWESUM show, but it was getting late. It was day light savings time today and we had to switch are clocks forward one hour. Once they played "Cruel Intentions", I decided to leave. I was waiting for them to play "Believe" (my favorite track), but who knows if they played it after I left. I got to my car around 1:45am and once it hit 2, it was 3:00am.

Lollapalooza.2010 (Friday)

I can not believe how clean Chicago is. It's a bit like San Diego but better. This is my first time here and I am here for Lollapalooza w/my friend Samy and my new friends Raquel and Elaine. The hotel is only 30 minutes from Grant Park, walking and it was not a bad walk. We got to explore the city. When I woke up in the morning, it was humid. When we came out in the afternoon, it was over cast and humid still, but tolerable. We left the hotel room around noon and we arrived to the fest around 2pm.

When we arrived, I was blown away. I liked what I saw. They had a huge inflatable Lollapalooza sign in front of the park and to get in, it was fast and quick. No hour wait like Coachella. They have it together here. Even the bag search was quick. I think I can get use to this. We where inside in less then 7 minutes. LESS THEN 7minutes, COACHELLA! Once inside, I looked around and this reminded me a bit like the Detour Festival in downtown Los Angeles. You get to see cool bands surrounded by the city scape. It looks amazing.

We walked around a bit to get to know the venue. I can not believe how huge Grant Park is. We walked passed The food court and the selection they had was really good and cheap. They even had deep dish pizza here. That takes about an hour to cook. We had deep dish pizza the first day we arrived and it was......GOOD (Gino's babe ROCKS!). We walked to the South Side of the park to catch The Big Pink. When we got there, the view was........Amazing. Then I noticed they had two stage sets here facing each other from a distance and I was wondering how that was gonna work. I did not look at the program carefully, hold up. Let's talk about the program. That thing was a pocket size book. It had pictures and a small bio on every band that was performing, with the set times and map. This place is winning me over. So impressed. Back to the stage set-up......The way it is set, one band plays first and when that band is over, the other band goes on at the opposite stage. It's the same set up at the North Side of the venue.

The first band we saw was The Big Pink and they where good once again. After that we went to see Devo. While we where waiting for them, I saw this guy stop in front of us and I was looking at him for a bit. Then it hit me, that is Erol Alkan! I took a quick pic of him. Cool. Devo went on and they where AWESUM! What a great performace from them and they had really cool visuals. For pulling 50 something, they sounded great and so much energy. They even had 4 costume changes. Right on......Devo. I need to see this show again indoors and at night. After Devo, we walked around and It's a walk the the North Side.

I wanted to checkout Neon Trees and I was not having them. Let's move on. We went back to the South Side to catch Hot Chip and once again, they killed it. They are dressing so nicely and well gromed. Check them out. No more baggy shirts and pants. Everything all nicely tailored. They don't look like geeks anymore. I miss that. After that we left to get some food. We passed by Chromeo and they opened up witha new song that sounded promising. We ate and headed to catch Lady Gaga. Now it was only Samy and I. His sister and her friend went to catch Erol Alkan. We did too and he was good. But once Tiga went on stage and he was playing a lame set. What is he doing? I liked the stuff he use to play back in 2003. So we decided to leave after 15 minutes and headed to see Gaga. We arrived and the place was getting full with Gaga Monsters. She went on time but she sang behind this huge curtain projecting her shadow on it. The curtain was lefted almost half way through her song. The stage was cool. It looked like a Broadway musical. She had her dancers and I leaned over to Samy and said, "is that Grace Jones?". But of course I was kidding around. We only heard 3 songs and left to catch The Strokes. Boy was that a SHOW!

This is my first time seeing The Strokes and they Kicked A$$. They had this really cool old school Jumbo Tron on the background that displayed simple visuals in red. What a differance from Lady Gaga's outragouas stage. Simple sometimes is better and it showed here. The Strokes played the hits and from what I hear, Mr Casablancas was a bit tipsy. Rock Star. I did not see the person helping him (Julian Lead Singer) back on stage when they did the encore. Thats what Samy told me. ROCK STAR! Other then him being a bit messy, they sounded great and I would not mind seeing them again in the future. Day 1 is over. A-

Here i am....back 2 the.AVALON. iLike it. They have good promoters. Thats a good sign. I arrived @11p sumthin....i had the feelin Tiga was gonna go on late BUT i really did not know that late. I get inside and i looked down 4 a second and it's a FCVKN Chuck Taylor convention. The last time i wore Con's was 1980 during GYM in Jr High/Senior High skool. never wore since. I guess Bcause they made my foot look like a burrito. Now, they R all over the place......like here. They need 2 go away like the classic Vans. PUT THAT SHiT in a VAULT! i could keep goin on this topic but......Next time. The place is pack and James Murphy is on the deck Bhind this huge radio/cassette player that looks like what i had in the 80's myself. FUNNY. iLike. He was pumpin the crowd and they loved him. is it me or is he takin 4ever.....it's 1am and he is still spinning....FVCK! I need 2 go 2 bed. TiGA keeps comin up 2 talk 2 him. iT's 1.15am and TiGA is on BUT James Murphy is still up there.....GET OFF FCVKR! we get it....U rock. Let TiGA shine now. MayB if i throw a bagel @him he'll get off. 130am and I am gettin sleepy. BUT.....the music is good. ROCK ON TiGA! where is my shoe?

I got this album B4 the release date (which I cannot stop playing) from a friend and I usually do not do that but i had 2. iT’s TiGA! Sorry about that TiGA but U R gonna get my $ when the ALBUM comes out. I love this guy.....he is one of my FAV DJ’s (who I look up 2) right now doing what he wants (just like SOULWAX). but this is a MUST GET! Especially 4 that amazing 10min song “Love Don’t Dance Here Anymore”. Such a great song. So stop reading this and get it........well......next week. Sorry TiGA (like I know the guy....i wish).
