FYF.2015

FYF.2015
(Saturday.&.Sunday)

Okay...FKA.twigs made FYF for me.  What a performance! So happy I left right after Belle.  I was going to stick around for Morrissey because I was really up close, but wanted to see something fresh and new.  Plus, someone less of a asshole.

Once I arrived to the stage that twigs was going to be, it was...PACKED!!!  D'Angelo was performing and he was really...GOOD!  He had that place moving.  AWESOME!

This was my first time at FYF and I Fuckn loved it.  So chill compared to Coachella. Everyone was in good mood and very respectful.  I told myself, "self, am I in LA?".  For sure I'll be back.

  I arrived just in time on Saturday to see La Femme They where...okay.  I stayed for a couple of songs and headed to the beer garden.  Drank a couple of beers and headed to catch The.Drums

What, Johnny is...GAY?!?!  Who new.  I had no idea.  He came out saying he got married to his partner who was in the pit with the photographers. Awesome!!!  Once again, they where bueño.

!!! was up next and they are always entertaining to watch.  The new tunes sounded good and it's great to see this band still making music.  Not so many NYC from early 2001 have survived when they first came out.  Only a few are still going strong right now.

  Bloc.Party was up next and of course, they killed it!!!  They got a new lady drummer (awesome) and guitarist.  Don't know if they are permanent, but will find out when they come back.

Saturday had the better line up then Sunday (of course), but like I said...FKA.twigs was AMAZING!  Had to leave after Bloc Party to go back and attend my booth at Chinatown.  Wanted to see so many others, but there is always next year.  See you in 2016 FYF!!!

Album I am listening to this week...

"KLAXONS"
- Love Frequency -

AWESOME!  AWESOME!  AWESOME!

A friend of mine told me that they have a copy of the album at Amoeba.  So I went the next week and grabbed it.  At first, I was not sure if I wanted to spend a lot on an import and I was not crazy about the single either that they put out.  I said, "Fuck It! It's the Klaxons!".

I got home.  Popped it in my computer.  Heard and repeated almost every track on the album.  The first, two tracks I was in and I fell in love with the single too.

WORTH MY TOP $$$!

Album I am listening to this week...

While you are waiting for the new Alt-J album, I suggest you take a listen to GLASS ANIMALS debut album, "Zaba".  What an AMAZING record.  If you are going to see them at Hollywood Forever, lucky you.  That show (both nights) is...SOLD OUT!!!  I didn't think it was going to sell out.  That's what happens when I wait I don't get it on time, like I always do.  Thank god, they are coming back, playing at The Troubadour and I got my ticket!!!  Make sure you GET TH!S album and catch them before they hit big.

MY FAVORITE TRACK is: "Hazey"

Culture.Collide.(Day.1).2012

Blood.Red.Shoes.2012

Couture.Collide.(Day.1).2012

@TIAX.(Los Angeles, CA)
Thursday.October.4th

I pulled up to the parking lot and I see kids sitting on the parking lot floor wearing scarfs and beanies.  Really?!?!  Funny.  I know that the weather cooled down a bit, but not that drastic that we need to bundle up.  Even when I walked in to TIAX, some people had jackets.  It's only 70 degrees, people.
Blood.Red.Shoes.2012
This is my first time in TIAX (French Restaurant).  It's a nice place.  There where two places for music, the Lounge and the Champagne Room.  The bands I wanted to see where at the Champagne room.  It was perfect, small and up front.  The only problem, was the sound.  It was trapped in the room and you needed earplugs.  I decided to stand up front, on the side of the stage, behind the speakers.  It worked, but it was a little hard to hear the band.
Blood.Red.Shoes.2012
I was not big on Of Verona (second band).  To clean for my taste.  Now...lets talk about  Blood Red Shoes (K!CK A$$!!!).  After the third song...BLACKOUT!  Yup, they where so loud that the room went dark.  AWESUM!!!!  You see the techie guys going bananas to fix the problem.  Less then ten minutes, they got the lights on and Blood Red Shoes went on like nothing happened.    They got the crowd going and I was surprised that no one started a mosh pit or something stupid.  I looked around and noticed The Champagne  Room was packed.  Photographers where all over the place blocking fan views just to get a good shot of the band.  I was surprised that no one complained.  The crowd was well behaved and I noticed that this was not your typical hip kid kind of crowd.  It was more, music industry type people in here.Tribes.2012
Tribes.2012
The room cleared after Blood Red Shoes.  I stuck around for Tribes.  When Tribes went on, they had problems with there equipment.  Once again, the techie guys where scrambling like crazy trying to fix it and sure enough, they did.  These guys are really good and I bet they are not getting paid well.  Tribes went on without anymore interruptions and they where good, BUT...Blood Red Shoes stoled the night.
Tribes.2012
After there set, I met up with my friends and took pictures for them with the bands.  The one that was kind of a dick was, Johnny Lloyd (Lead Singer).  When I was about to snap the pic, Johnny was making faces as if he really didn't want to, but had to, just to make my friend happy.  He rolled his eyes and jerked his head.  I felt like saying, "you know what,forget about".  When I toke it, he had this face that said it all.  JERK!

Ladyhawke.(L!VE).2012

Ladyhawke.2012
Ladyhawke.2012
@the.EchoPlex.(Los Angeles, CA)
Monday.September.24th

What a crazy day today.  Went to the taping of Fashion Police Emmy's Episode and Joan Rivers was awesome.  Such a warm, funny and friendly celebrity.  If you ever get a chance, get tickets to the show, it's a ride.

Today's show was scheduled for Tuesday.  No idea why it was moved, but I can rest tomorrow and catch up on some TV shows.

It's 9:30pm and the crowd is a little light tonight.  It's not a sold out (which I thought it would be) show.  Have people scratched  her off?  I listened to her new album and I was not to crazy about it.  It didn't have that catchy fun energy from the last album.  This sounds to serious, but lets see what she pulls out tonight.
Ladyhawke.2012
American Royalty was the opening band and had some technical problems that got sorted out.  I was not really into them.  They started to loss me after the fourth song.  Then they picked it up in the middle that got some people's attention.  The guy behind me was singing to almost every song that they performed.  Some girls in the back asked them to take off their shirts.  They didn't and they just ignored the shot out.
Ladyhawke.2012
Ladyhawke went on and she rocked it out.  Just looking at Phillipa Brown (Ladyhawke), you can tell she is a very very shy person, but very well mannered.  She was kind and very sweet to us...AND she might move to Los Angeles.  Ms. Brown told us that she loved are town and is looking to make this her new home.  How cool.
Ladyhawke.2012
I was standing right in front of the stage and noticed a couple of tech guys running around crazily.  I  noticed that they where trying to fix some of the stage lights and they never succeeded. Sux.
Ladyhawke.2012
The guy behind me was making me laugh inside because he was singing along with her and very loud too.  What a sweet soul.  There where times that he hit some high notes.  Sir, it's not your show, let's keep it down.  I was really surprised that he knew that Jefferson Airplane song that they covered.  Right on.

Now that I saw Ladyhawke up in front instead of a balcony 5 years ago in New York City, I want to see her again with her signature lite up Christmas microphone.

BRETON.(L!VE) @the.Echo...

BRETON.2012
Breton.2012
@the.Echo.(Los Angeles, CA)
Tuesday.September.18th

Ahhhhhhh...YEA!  They are back and it looks less crowded from the last time they where here.  No bueño.
BRETON.2012
Missed the first band, but I caught the second, Mathewdavid and what a trip he was.  First, I thought he was gay because of the way he was dancing on stage.  Not only that, he decided to kick it on the steps and sing to us while half of his body was laying on the floor.  I really don't like to rag on bands, but he was horrible.  I know it takes guts to be on stage to perform, but come on. He had great beats, but once he opened his mouth, it was...bad.  Yes, he surprised me too when I saw him kissing and hugging his lady friend after his performance.  Literally, I thought he was gay.  Once again, I have been bamboozled.
Photobucket
The third artist is signed to Ghostly International and he was good.  Forgot his name (BAD ME).  He had these two huge white balloons that projected images on them and ocassionally  change color.  I noticed that Mathewdavid just stuck around for two songs and left.  Hey, we stuck around for your performance, mister.
BRETON.2012
The night gets interesting, I happened to glance over to this Mexican guy (or someother Latin descent) asking every girls to dance.   He was turned down by everyone of them and was later escorted out by security.  Funny.
BRETON.2012
The crowd was still light, but it didn't stop Breton from throwing another amazing show.  They sounded tighter and better from the last time I saw them here, four months ago.  They cool visuals and the energy of the band was.....AWESUM!!!  They added a new member and he took over the synthesizers.  The new guy reminded me of Oscar Cash (of Metronomy) because of the way he moved when he performed behind the keyboard.

If you have not heard or seen Breton yet, you have too.  They KICK!NG A$$ and throw down a killer show.

FM 94/9 Independence Jam.2012

Fiona.Apple.2012

94/9.Independence.Jam.2012

@OceanSide.Amphitheatre.Theatre
(San Diego, CA)
Sunday.September.16th

I would like to say something, Fiona, you need to eat a sandwich guurrrrl.  You look like the crypt keeper.  She is so fcvkn skinny that her eye socks are sunken in.  When she came out on stage, I thought she was part of the backup band.  Fiona doesn't look right and you would think people would say something, but I guess they really don't care.  Sad.
Oberhofer.2012
Today's weather is not as bad as Friday's and Saturday's 100 degrees temperature.  FCVK.  it was HOT during the day and warm at night.  It's a little bit (just a little bit) cooler.  You would think, being by the beach would help.  Not really.

Deanna and I missed the first band while we where waiting to get in.  They sounded good from what I was hearing.  I didn't catch there name, but I will (Gardens & Villa).
Once inside,  it was not that busy yet and it's just 4:30.  I noticed that Father John Misty was scratched off the bill about some contract agreement.  SUX!
Best.Coast.2012

OBERHOFER was the next band and they where...alright.  They lost me after the third song.   The crowd was loving them and that was the same reaction with Best Coast.  Best Coast lost me after the first song.   I decided to just whip out my phone and take pictures of the sun down and the crowd in the amphitheater.  I was excited to see both of these bands, but I was disappointed.  If it wasn't for Fiona Apple, I would of just went home.
Fiona.Apple.2012
Fiona Apple was good.   This was my first time seeing here and she was entertaining to watch.  She forgot the line to the beginning of just one song, but it felt set up. The crowd was singing to every note and admiring her every move.  No word across the crowd about how skinny she looked.  The only thng going around was, "wait until she plays the piano".  So I waited, but I did not see anything entertaining about it.  I thought she was going to get crazy on it, but not really.  Was I missing something?  Maybe the way she played it and she did quite well.  All I have to say about her is, pull pork!

@the.Troubadour (Los Angeles, CA)
Thursday.September.13th

What is going on??? I am surrounded by young girls again!!!  Just the other day at TRUST and now.  There 's hardly any guys around me.  I looked around and I see a Horror shirt, a older man sporting a Paul Weller hair do, Kelly Osborne's 2012 hair color on a girl up in front of the stage and a xx look-a-like (Oliver Sim).  Is that Rodney on the Rock in the back I see?  Right on.
the.Vaccines.2012
Tonight's show is  Sold Out (which I didn't know).  When I arrived to the venue, the first band just went off and they started to set up the stage for the Vaccines.  The many times that I have been here, I never seen the drum set elevated.  I guess the drummer wants to be noticed and he sure got my attention.
the.Vaccines.2012
The Vaccines went on and what a show.  They have gotten better from the first show I saw them at Amoeba.  They played a couple of new tunes that sounded great and I notice some kids singing along to them.  Weird, but cool, I guess.
the.Vaccines.2012
I saw my friend Zoe (of course) at her favorite spot.  I met up with her after the show.  We hung out and waited for the band members to come out.  I took pictures of Zoe with almost all the band members.  The only one missing and trying to find, was the drummer.  We spotted him up at the balcony looking down at his bandmates drinking a beer.  We didn't dared to go up.  Maybe next time.

Viva! Brother.2011
@the.Troubadour.(Los Angeles, CA)
Wednesday.September.7.2011

It's a DOZY (hot day today in Los Angeles) today, but the night was cooler.  I decided to see Brother U.K...I mean Viva Brother (thats a FCVKd UP name.  They should of stuck with U.K. Instead.  It sounds better) again because they threw a GREAT show last time (at Satellite) I saw them.  Plus, the album came out a couple of weeks ago.  Now I know more then just one song, "Darling Buds of May".
jdn73,vivabrother,rock,music,gritrock,england,thetroubadour,indieI like, "Famous First Words" (New album).  It's not, WOW!  It has a couple of good songs, but of course the album got slammed BIG TIME on  NME.  Oh well.  It did not stop me from buying the album.
jdn73,vivabrother,rock,music,gritrock,england,thetroubadour,indieYou would think (once again), all the press they get, this place would be packed...Nope.  Once again, it's LITE!  Lot more people from last time.  Maybe...twenty or twenty five more.  It was a DEAD crowd, once again.  Even Leonard Newell (Lead Singer) was trying to pump us up and it was working, but just for a few minutes.  The girl in front of me made a cute Viva Brother sign (all by pencil) and Leonard saw it and gave her a smile.  At the end of the show, Leonard gave her a guitar pick.  That was really nice of him.  All that hard bullshit, he really has a soft spot.
jdn73,vivabrother,rock,music,gritrock,england,thetroubadour,indie
It was a kick a$$ concert again.  No matter how small the crowd was, they K!LLED !T.  They sounded and played great.  The only thing that was to cool for school, no encore.  They just left the stage, waved goodbye and never came back.  We waited for a couple of seconds and the lights went on.  Even with all that spitting that Joshua Ward (Guitarist) was doing, they should just drop the Rock and put Punk on Grit.
