Album I am listening to this week...

"KLAXONS"
- Love Frequency -

AWESOME!  AWESOME!  AWESOME!

A friend of mine told me that they have a copy of the album at Amoeba.  So I went the next week and grabbed it.  At first, I was not sure if I wanted to spend a lot on an import and I was not crazy about the single either that they put out.  I said, "Fuck It! It's the Klaxons!".

I got home.  Popped it in my computer.  Heard and repeated almost every track on the album.  The first, two tracks I was in and I fell in love with the single too.

WORTH MY TOP $$$!

Album I am listening to this week...

While you are waiting for the new Alt-J album, I suggest you take a listen to GLASS ANIMALS debut album, "Zaba".  What an AMAZING record.  If you are going to see them at Hollywood Forever, lucky you.  That show (both nights) is...SOLD OUT!!!  I didn't think it was going to sell out.  That's what happens when I wait I don't get it on time, like I always do.  Thank god, they are coming back, playing at The Troubadour and I got my ticket!!!  Make sure you GET TH!S album and catch them before they hit big.

MY FAVORITE TRACK is: "Hazey"

IAMX.(L!VE) at...

IAMX.2013
Fonda.Theater.(Los Angeles, CA)
Wednesday.May. 15th

What the...HELL!!!  The opener had a great voice for someone who is hungover on the final show.  Some people where into him and other where just making fun.  It was something that I did not expect for IAMX  to have this one man show to open for him.  All he had was a guitar, a backing track with beats and a mic.  He had a good voice, but what the hell!?!?!

Once again..IAMX was FCVKn...AWESUM!!!  Everyone in the band glitter bomb us.  Groovy.  IAMX played some new songs that sounded really good (can't wait).  The last time I saw him was maybe 5 years ago and I think this was a better show.  Chris Corner (Lead Singer) is a rock star.  He had his Rock-n-Roll boots on and glitter all over his face.  He reminded me of Dave Gahan (Lead Singer of DM) because of his energy on stage and body frame.

Everyone in the band had there own unique look that my eyes where bouncing all over the place.  Each and every one of them had a different paint on there face. I wish they tour much and I was glad I was here to witness this fantastic show.

Jake.Bugg.(L!VE)....

Jake.Bugg.2013

@Bowery.Ballroom.(New York City, NY)
January.14th

What a great way to start the new year.  Jake Bugg didn't disappoint at all!  No wonder he was on the front cover of NME and number one on the charts in England.   when Jake came out, I thought it was just going to be him playing acoustic, but he actually had a band to back him up.  AWESUM!!!

Jake.Bugg.2013 photo jake3_zps48f03cbc.jpg
Jake Bugg didn't speak much to us, but in my mind, he really didn't have to.  His music did.  I looked around and everyone was glued.  The crowd was young and old and loved every minute of the show.  I wish I was going home early to catch him at The Troubadour.
Jake.Bugg.2013 photo jake1_zpse1017ced.jpgValerie.June.2013 photo VJune2_zps3821cc21.jpg
I made it early to catch another rising star name,
Valerie June.  She played a acoustic set and what a soulful voice.  Valerie June is from Tennessee and Jake Bugg found her and asked her to open up for him.  What a find.  She was very entertaining and what a cute girl.  Think of Medusa's (not her, but her wild  hair) because her dreadlocks where wild and all over the place, but in a good way.  What I liked best, is when I found her back stage taking a picture of the crowd she just performed too after her set.  The funny thing, before she played her last song, she told the crowd, " I can't wait to see Jake Bugg after with a good chicken".

Paul.Banks...(L!VE)...

Paul.Banks.2012

Paul.Banks.2012

@the.Constalation.Room
(Santa Ana, CA)
Friday.November.30th

"Where is Paul?" said this guy out loud to the opening band.  Ouch!

This is my first time at this venue in Santa Ana (not going to be my last) and I am liking it.  The size is perfect and It's half the size of The Troubadour.  The only crazy thing is the $10.oo parking fee.  Crazy.  I drove around and found a place.  I was a little nervous leaving my car at this commercial parking lot, but .  when I came back to my car, it was...there!!! Nice.  Now I know where to park when I see Bloc Party next week.
Paul.Banks.2012
There was a small line that moved quickly. I was able to get a perfect spot.  When the opening band got rid of there equipment on the side of the stage where I was standing, gave us more room to move up front.  I was one body away from touching the stage.  I was so close that I was able to read the set list.  Then I reached to my pocket and noticed that I forgot my camera, great.  I used my phone and almost died on me. Great.
Paul.Banks.2012
Paul Banks opened up with, "Sky Scrapper (perfect)".  I noticed that band got a little facelift.  Everyone where dressed in black (of course).  Last time, everyone had there own look.  I noticed that the  guy from Secret Machines was on guitar and keyboard (Paul must be really good friends with him).
Paul.Banks.2012
Paul sounded great and the best part of this show, was to watch the people.  There was this guy up front that looked a bit like Carlos D.  He was very nervous watching his idol perform.   He kept scratching his arm and neck numerous times.  The two girls that where up front and center next to the guy, looked hypnotized.  Sometimes they would close there eyes to feel the music.  Funny.

the.Maccabees.(L!VE)...AGAIN!

the.Maccabees.2012
The.Maccabees.2012
@Fingerprints.(Long Beach, CA)
Tuesday.October.9th

What?!?!  I have to buy something to get a Maccabees poster that Fingerprint printed for them to sign?  FCVK that!   I know business is tough right now, but make us (fans) buy something, yea right.  I'll take a photo instead.  Snap!
the.Maccabees.2012
I was so excited to find out that The Maccabees where doing a in-store performance in Long Beach, especially at Fingerprints.  That place is small, but I accidentally went to the old store in Belmont Shores and I didn't know that they moved it.  I goggled the new location and it seems like it's in the downtown area.  Once I arrived at the new location, I FCVKn love it!  its a little bigger and now Long Beach has a cool independent record store, just like Hollywood and it does look a little like Amoeba Records.  Funny.
the.Maccabees.2012
Once we arrived, they had two separate lines.  One for people who have preordered the album and the other was for those who are on the list.  What?!?!  List.  Of course, Zoe took care of that and we got in.  The Maccabees hit the stage around 7:30 and what a show, again.   This time, Orlando (Lead Singer) was on the right hand corner of the stage.  I didn't recognize him until he sang.  Funny.  I thought he was gonna do this grand entrance and he was on stage all along.
the.Maccabees.2012
The Maccabees played for a hour and they didn't really have a set list.  They just played what ever song they wanted.  This time, I noticed that the keyboardist wasn't with them.  After the hour was over,  Orlando took awhile to get off stage.  He seemed like he wanted to keep playing for us.  What a cool guy.  He walked off looking very disappointed.

We stuck around and took photos with the band and so did I (yes, I actually got out of my shell).  Hey, why not and they where really cool guys.  The only one missing was the drummer.  He left to the coffee shop and he came back with a burrito.  That just told me to let him enjoy his food.  Until the next time.

Ladyhawke.(L!VE).2012

Ladyhawke.2012
Ladyhawke.2012
@the.EchoPlex.(Los Angeles, CA)
Monday.September.24th

What a crazy day today.  Went to the taping of Fashion Police Emmy's Episode and Joan Rivers was awesome.  Such a warm, funny and friendly celebrity.  If you ever get a chance, get tickets to the show, it's a ride.

Today's show was scheduled for Tuesday.  No idea why it was moved, but I can rest tomorrow and catch up on some TV shows.

It's 9:30pm and the crowd is a little light tonight.  It's not a sold out (which I thought it would be) show.  Have people scratched  her off?  I listened to her new album and I was not to crazy about it.  It didn't have that catchy fun energy from the last album.  This sounds to serious, but lets see what she pulls out tonight.
Ladyhawke.2012
American Royalty was the opening band and had some technical problems that got sorted out.  I was not really into them.  They started to loss me after the fourth song.  Then they picked it up in the middle that got some people's attention.  The guy behind me was singing to almost every song that they performed.  Some girls in the back asked them to take off their shirts.  They didn't and they just ignored the shot out.
Ladyhawke.2012
Ladyhawke went on and she rocked it out.  Just looking at Phillipa Brown (Ladyhawke), you can tell she is a very very shy person, but very well mannered.  She was kind and very sweet to us...AND she might move to Los Angeles.  Ms. Brown told us that she loved are town and is looking to make this her new home.  How cool.
Ladyhawke.2012
I was standing right in front of the stage and noticed a couple of tech guys running around crazily.  I  noticed that they where trying to fix some of the stage lights and they never succeeded. Sux.
Ladyhawke.2012
The guy behind me was making me laugh inside because he was singing along with her and very loud too.  What a sweet soul.  There where times that he hit some high notes.  Sir, it's not your show, let's keep it down.  I was really surprised that he knew that Jefferson Airplane song that they covered.  Right on.

Now that I saw Ladyhawke up in front instead of a balcony 5 years ago in New York City, I want to see her again with her signature lite up Christmas microphone.

BRETON.(L!VE) @the.Echo...

BRETON.2012
Breton.2012
@the.Echo.(Los Angeles, CA)
Tuesday.September.18th

Ahhhhhhh...YEA!  They are back and it looks less crowded from the last time they where here.  No bueño.
BRETON.2012
Missed the first band, but I caught the second, Mathewdavid and what a trip he was.  First, I thought he was gay because of the way he was dancing on stage.  Not only that, he decided to kick it on the steps and sing to us while half of his body was laying on the floor.  I really don't like to rag on bands, but he was horrible.  I know it takes guts to be on stage to perform, but come on. He had great beats, but once he opened his mouth, it was...bad.  Yes, he surprised me too when I saw him kissing and hugging his lady friend after his performance.  Literally, I thought he was gay.  Once again, I have been bamboozled.
Photobucket
The third artist is signed to Ghostly International and he was good.  Forgot his name (BAD ME).  He had these two huge white balloons that projected images on them and ocassionally  change color.  I noticed that Mathewdavid just stuck around for two songs and left.  Hey, we stuck around for your performance, mister.
BRETON.2012
The night gets interesting, I happened to glance over to this Mexican guy (or someother Latin descent) asking every girls to dance.   He was turned down by everyone of them and was later escorted out by security.  Funny.
BRETON.2012
The crowd was still light, but it didn't stop Breton from throwing another amazing show.  They sounded tighter and better from the last time I saw them here, four months ago.  They cool visuals and the energy of the band was.....AWESUM!!!  They added a new member and he took over the synthesizers.  The new guy reminded me of Oscar Cash (of Metronomy) because of the way he moved when he performed behind the keyboard.

If you have not heard or seen Breton yet, you have too.  They KICK!NG A$$ and throw down a killer show.

Friday.June.15th

What, no encore?  Awesome because I am tired of standing on this FCVKn step.  It didn't even help after watching two horrible opening bands.  At least, Devon was a little entertaining and sounded better then the second band, a little better. Devon's front man screamed a lot and told some jokes that didn't make any sense.
Devon.2012
The second band had a female singer that you could hardly hear what she was singing.  Almost after every second song,  they would all switch instruments and they would take turns singing.  That didn't even help.  They where all bad.  The crazy part, they just arrived from touring Spain.  WTF?!?!  Yea!  Crazy.  There name was very long, forgettable and they where even worse then Devon.  Devon should of gone second to relieve me from the second band.  It was...really, BAD.  BUT...It didn't stop the kids from moshing though.
the.Cribs.2012
The moshing didn't get to out of control, but I was getting bumped into a lot by these drunk couple (great, here we go).  The girl was so FVCKd up that the guy was propping her up a bunch. I was almost knocked over a couple of times because of them.  It didn't help that I was standing on a step too.
the.Cribs.2012
The.Cribs hit the stage at 11 o'clock and they kicked A$$!  This is my first Crib concert and I thank my friend Zowie for inviting me to see them.  More moshing started and the kids where getting tired.  What, already.  I would turn over to see the kids go crazy and a minute later, the moshing would end.  They should of saved all the energy for The Crids instead of that awful second band.

\m/- Crazy.

BRETON.(L!VE) @the.Echo.(Los Angeles, CA)

BRETON.2012
Breton.2012
@the.Echo.(Los Angeles, CA)
Wednesday.May.9th

After Coachella, I was wiped out for awhile.  I missed a couple of bands (Chairlift, EXITMUSIC and Tanlines).  I never heard of Breton until I opened my weekly newsletter by NME.  They picked Breton album, Other People's Problems as a best of 2012 so far.  So I had to check out there music and liked what I was hearing.  Think of Foals gone electro-rock, but in a more abstract way.  I went to their website and they happen to be coming to Los Angeles at The Echo.  Perfect.
BRETON.2012I entered The Echo around 9:15pm and you may say, around twenty people where here tonight.   There was maybe 50 more after 10pm.   I was looking around to see the people and I happen to bump in to Zowie.  I always see her at almost every show I go to.  If you get a chance, checkout her radio show on Moheak.com on Tuesday's at 5pm. She plays the best in underground Indie music.
BRETON.2012
More people started to show up after 10pm.  Give or take, 50 more.  Not bad.
BRETON.2012Breton went on and they, K!LLED !T.  I just found my second BEST band of 2012 (TRUST is first).  They blew me away and they had great energy on stage.  I happen to met the tour manager.  She came up to me and asked "How did you hear about Breton?".  I told her, "on NME".   I told her, "what about you?".  "I am their tour manager" she said.  How cool was that?!  I was hoping she would invite me to the after party (that's if they had one) or something.
BRETON.2012Thirty minutes into the show, I was glued.  They sounded GREAT and had great chemistry with each other.  Every member in the band was interesting to watch.  They all had there own personality.  My eyes where bouncing around from member to member.  After the last song, I wanted more.  I am definitely going to see them again!  I went to the shirt stand and they had NO SHIRTS!!!  What?!?!?!?!    DAM!

HOWLER (L!VE) @the.Echo.....

Howler.2012

Howler.2012
@the.Echo.(Los Angeles, CA)
Friday.March.23rd

Before I stepped into the venue, I looked over to the band schedule and Howler does not go on until 11:30p.  FCVK.  It's 10:15pm and I can count, 50 people in here.  From all the rave reviews on NME, you would think this place would be packed and sold out.
the.Static.Jacks.2012
First band was on when I came in and they where....The second band, I never heard before, The Static Jacks.  They kicked a$$.  So far from what I know about them, they are from New Jersey.  They had great chemistry and it looked like they where having the time of there life.  Did they say, they are gonna be in tour with The Wombats?  CONGRATs!!!
Howler.2012
I hope Howler does better because The Static Jacks pulled a great show.  Before I forget, I liked there stage set up.  They handmade some artwork that they painted over cardboard.  They where laid out on stage, leaning on PA's and other band equipments.  I really LIKED them.
Howler.2012
Howler went on and they where good.  I mean, REALLY GOOD.  They did out shine The Static Jacks.  They had the crowd going, moving and boping.  I started to noticed  more people after The Static Jacks (I thought for a second, it was going to be a Viva Brother show).  Beside the couples around me making out non-stop during the show, one of the guy's had nasty BO.  Feel sorry for that girl that has to sleep with that.
Howler.2012
Howler didn't have an encore and to me, they sounded better live then the album.  I have to take another listen to their debut album, America Give Up.  But over all, THEY ROCKED!!!

REPTAR.(L!VE) @the.Echo

Reptar.2012
Reptar.2012

@the.Echo.(Los Angeles, CA)
Wednesday.February.29th

For starters, this is bull$h!t (not the concert).  I hate when people promote something and once you get there, it's not even going on.  They're suppose to have Food Truck Wednesdays on Melrose/Spaulding in the carwash lot and...NOTHING!!!  SUX.  At least I got some exercise and killed it with some Fruity Pebbles when I got home.  Yummy.  Did you know it's Gluten free and low in sugar.  Awesome!!!
Reptar.2012
The opening band had a bunch of members on stage and the lead singer was bare foot through the whole show.  Rock on!  While I was watching the opener, some crazy guy just rushed to the front.  I turned around and it was the lead singer (Graham Ulicny) of Reptar.  He was getting down and singing almost to every song. He was more interesting to watch then the actual band.  It's always GREAT to see the main act show support to there fellow friends.  That's a plus.  On the last song, Graham went on stage with fellow members of Reptar.  Double PLUS!!
Reptar.2012Reptar.2012
Reptar opened up with "Blastoff" and from their, that song set the whole mood of the show.  AWESUM!!!  The person next to me was so sweet with his friend.  He brought him to his first Reptar show and kept telling him to watch Graham's face.  Which is true.  He (Graham) would make some interesting face expressions when he is singing, that you had to witness for yourself.
Reptar.2012
Other then William Kennedy (Keyboardist) wearing silver pants, Reptar was tearing it UP!!!  The sound was GREAT and this was a better show then the one I saw at Lollapalooza last year.  If you haven't seen or heard of this Athen's, Georgia band, you need to.  They might just be the next big thing (they are to me already).

\m/ - K!LLER !!!
