Holy.Ghost! and Jessica.6.(L!V3) in Brooklyn

Saturday.November.26.2011

$H!T.  The L train is shut down for the weekend, so I had to jump on a different train to get to Williamsburg.  At first it looked a bit confusing at the directions they had posted on the wall, but it lined up pretty well. Now, how to get back home.  I hope it's the same way (which it was).
Midnight.Magic.2011I arrived to the venue and  the doorman had a hard time scanning my paper ticket.  When it scanned, he told me "if it was scanned before?".  This is the reason why I prefer my tickets at  will call.  He let me, thank God.   I walked in and the place was empty.  Only a few of us here.  There was a DJ (Eli Escobar) playing really cool music (about time).  I walked around and I like this place.  It's half the size of Webster Hall with a really good sound system.

Midnight.Magic was the first band and they got the party started.  The lead female singer is funny.  She knows how to pump up a empty room and turn it into a party.  She got some people moving.
Jessica.6.2011Jessica.6 was up next and the venue started to get busy.  It was another SOLD OUT concert for Holy.Ghost! and this is the last show for the year.  It was a  night of NYCity bands  and Jessica 6 did a great job.  Nomi came out looking HOT (as always)!  Not to many costume changes, but a strip down.  She slowly took off her top and revealed a almost naked chest.  The bra had nipples that made you think for a second.
Holy.Ghost!.2011My first time seeing Holy.Ghost! and they did not disappoint.  I always missing this band when they come to Los Angeles and what a show.  They had this really cool stage set up that reminded me of the old days (from what I saw in pictures).  They had all this electronic equipment that reminded me of early Kraftwerk concerts.

I looked into the crowd and I did not see to many young kids in the crowd.   It was an 18 and over concert.  It was more of an older crowd and no drunks out of control around me.  I was up on a platform and you can see huge pockets of smoke in crowd.  This place was smoking it up.  You even smiled it in the bathroom.

Holy.Ghost! set was quick.   Jessica.6, Midnight.Magic and DJ Eli Escobar all kicked a$$ tonight.  Even the guy up in front singing every song from Jessica.6 had a blast.  Music Hall of Williamsburg is a really cool venue, but $7.00 for beer, that's crazy!!!

Thursday.November.18.2011

le.poisson.rouge is a REALLY COOL place.  I always wanted to come here and now I have the opportunity.

Once I stepped in, they where playing Depeche.Mode's Black Celebration album in it's entirety (this place just won my heart even more) and I saw some kids singing along and dancing.  Groovy.

le.poisson.rouge is by NYU on the famous Bleeker St.  It made me fill I was at some hip and edgy joint in Brooklyn.  There are still cool places in the city still, Awesome!
jdn73,balamarab,coldwave,music,concert,lepoissonrouge,trust,truewomanhoodThe first band, True.Womanhood where really good.  They are a synth/rock band form DC.  At first I was not to crazy about them, but after the second song, they had me tapping my feet to some cool dance beats.
jdn73,balamarab,coldwave,music,concert,lepoissonrouge,trust,truewomanhoodThe second band, Trust was really GOOD!  They had this really cool sound that threw me back to early industrial music when it was minimal and fresh.  Only two members in the band, a girl (synth) and a guy (vocals and programming).  Towards the end of there set, the girl decided to show some personality.  She had a cute little dance, but she stopped it very quickly.  Once I came home I looked them up and there was not much information about them.  All I know, they are from Canada.

So far, LOVE what I am hearing tonight and lets see what Balam.Acab has in store because it's already 1:00am.
jdn73,balamarab,coldwave,music,concert,lepoissonrouge,trust,truewomanhoodBalam.Acab went on, but they had just a little problem with the second song.  They are two members in the band and it's the same lineup as Trust, but a little different.  The girl is the singer and the guy programs and also sings, but...BOY, are they young!  They look 15 years old.

Balam.Arab went on around 1:30am and after a couple of songs I was pretty much done.  They bored me.  I wanted to get wowed after two good bands, but I wasn't.  This is a Cold.Wave.  I am glad I came or I would never would of heard of True.Womanhood and Trust.

Friday.November.4.2011

I really don't get that style where guys show off there man panties.  I don't find it appealing, but there is an audience that like it.  There is a roadie up on stage showing us his white man panties.  Not a nice color to start off because you can see his sweat. Nice, I just ate and thats something I didn't need to see at this moment.
jdn73,indie,concert,kidsatthebar,websterhall,thesounds,nataliakillsKids at the Bar where the house DJ's and they really pumped up the crowd.  They played a mix of Electro-Techno pop music that you hear on the radio.  Kids at the Bar are two DJs on stage.  One mixes and pumps the crowd, while the other one just turns knobs around and just stands there looking into the audience.  Very interesting pair.
jdn73,indie,concert,kidsatthebar,websterhall,thesounds,nataliakillsNatalia Kills was the opening act.  I Never heard of them and let's keep it that way.  It was cute to watch one of the members mother's in the crowd yelling there names and dancing to the songs.  The band had a cool style to them, but the music (for me) was very cheesy Top 40 pop music, that sounds like Metro Station.

After Natalie Kills, they brought back Kids at the Bar.
jdn73,indie,concert,kidsatthebar,websterhall,thesounds,nataliakillsThe Sounds started off with "It's So Easy" and from there, the dance party has started.  What a show and Maja Ivarsson (Lead Singer) looks, HOT!   I still don't know how she does it, performing in high heels for about 2 hours. Jumping around and kicking.  Her feet and foot have to be hurting after every show. She even staged dived towards the end, but they pulled her out so fast.

The Sounds played ALL there hits, "Tony the Beat", "Rock 'n' Roll" (ahhhhhhh), "Dorchester Hotel", "Living in America" and the new songs from, "Something to Die for" album and they sounded...AWESOME!!!
jdn73,indie,concert,kidsatthebar,websterhall,thesounds,nataliakillsThe crowd was a bit wild.  There was this couple that stormed there way to the front and they where a trip.  The girl kept flashing her VIP sticker (like in that movie, Wayne's World) at people, but there is no VIP section.  Some girls around me started to make fun of her and talking $H!T and she left.  She came back, but this time, she climed on the speaker.  The girls that she pist off wanted to throw $H!T at her, but no one did anything. They just gave her dirty looks.  Sure enough, the girl was kicked off the speaker after 2 songs by security.  I was surprised she did not flash her VIP sticker that was taped on her chest to him.

Tiga/Soulwax.2011
@Webster.Hall.(NYCity)
Wednesday.November.2.2011

So far, the treble is killing me.  I am looking around and I thought I was the only one putting my finger in my ear.

I saw the set list and Tiga goes on at midnight and Soulwax at 1 am.  I am looking around the crowd and it's a mix of young and middle age.  I see a girl (dressed in a tiger outfit) that decided to wear her Halloween costume tonight. Groovy.   Not to far from her, I see a guy dancing with his cane.  It reminded me of that scene in Mary Poppins, when they are in the park dancing and singing with the animals.  Pretty funny.
jdn73,newyorkcity,websterhall,dance,concert,tiga,soulwax,electro,technoI don't know who was the first DJ (Zombie Nation), but it looked like he was having some problems.  He kept signalling the tech people and he flipped them off and waved goodbye.  D!VA.  The more I look into the crowd, I don't see one single person dressed in TechnoColor (that's what I call the kids at these Rave events in L.A.).  Not even one loud color of clothing.  Almost everyone is in a dark shade of color.  Thank you.
jdn73,newyorkcity,websterhall,dance,concert,tiga,soulwax,electro,technoTiga went on and I was not to crazy about his set.  I think I am gonna scratch him off like Felix da Housecat.  It's all that crazy noise (Electro-Techno).  Everyone went crazy went he played, "Mind Deminsion" (a single of his from last year), but they did not go crazy when he played, "Shoes".  It was not the original version of the song, it was a remix of it which I was not a fan of. Towards the end, he played, Friendly Fires "Blue Cassette" (a song with actual vocals) and it was a remix, which I think he did. It was the only good song that I  actually moved to.  There might be still a chance.
jdn73,newyorkcity,websterhall,dance,concert,tiga,soulwax,electro,technoSoulwax was up next and what a performance.  They topped there show from the last time I saw them in L.A.  I think that was 4 or 3 years ago at Avaland.  They got rid of there white suits and went with lite blue that looked a bit gray.  Soulwax sounded great  and if they play there cards right, they could be the void for LCD Soundsystem.  They played a couple of new songs that sounded VERY promising.
jdn73,newyorkcity,websterhall,dance,concert,tiga,soulwax,electro,technoEverything was going good until that drunk guy came out of nowhere.  He pushed some people so he could be up front.  People made some faces and kindly asked him to leave, but he did not budge.  He just payed no attention and just danced and bumped in to people.  Now, if this happened in L.A., this guy would of been pushed out or punched.  Not here,  they just yelled at him to move.  Towards the end,  they danced with him.  He left for awhile and then he came back and the people slowly pushed him away.  There where some other crazy drunks around, but they kept it together.
