Die.Antwoord.(L!VE) @Nokia.Club...

Friday.February.24th

I am missing, Grimes at The Echo tonight and I would of liked to have gone to that show instead, but I got my Die.Antwoord ticket last year.  Oh well, until the next time.
Die.Antwoord.2012It's a dress up party up in here.  I see some people in furry outfits, neon hoodies, Goth wear and so on.  It has a Rave atmosphere for grown ups.  It's going to be one of those nights, that's for sure.  Of course I did not make it to the main floor ($H!T) once again.  How early am I suppose to arrive to this place? I looked over to the main floor and I see alot of smoke (if you know what I mean)...nice.  I see a couple of family here as well.

The opening DJ where good.  They played all sorts of music and they did not stick to one genre of music.  Once they played the #1 Cool list artist on NME (Azelia Banks) after a Rihanna song , people where comatose.  Of course.
Die.Antwoord.2012I looked down into the main floor and I noticed a 8 year old kid.  What?!?!  How did he get down there and to top it off, he is blowing bubbles in to the crowd.  The girl in front of me is video taping the kid.  Not a good idea.
Die.Antwoord.2012Die.Antwoord went on and the people around me started to get crazy.  Some tried to push there way up to the rail, but they failed.  It felt like I was at a Slipknot show (never been) because of how aggressive the crowd was.  I was standing my ground and the girl next to me told me to get closer.  I was not getting closer to the guy next to me.  I told her "no, but I am watching".  She was doing a good job herself not letting anyone shove her to the side.  I already lost the couple next to me and the other people who replaced that couple.   At one point, I thought there was gonna be a fight because someone threw beer in the air next to me.  That just caused the crowd to get a little more crazy that I was slowly shoved up to the rail.  That did not last long, but I had a nice view for awhile.

All this shoving and pushing made it hard for me to take pictures.  Even the guy in front of me never got tired having his arms up.  On some of my pictures, has his arm and hands in the frame.  To funny.

Two new people made there way next to me and decided to light up.  Even the guy in front of me who kept raising his hands decided to light up himself.  Perfect!  Snap.
Die.Antwoord.2012Besides all the shenanigans around me, Die.Antwoord was killing it.  They had some awesome visuals, the sound was great and they did a couple of costume changes (more of a strip down to undies).  Ninja (Singer) came out in his famous Pink Floyd boxers and the guy (who kept raising his hands)  went crazy.  I don't know if he was excited to see him in his underwear or waiting to see him bounce his junk.  I guess the high kicked in.

After the show (which ended to quick I might say), I went to the shirt stand and there was a line.  Ten minutes later, they ran out of shirts.  FCVK!!!

Wednesday.February.15th

I heard a little of Bombay.Bicycle.Club, but never really look them up or heard there music.  Then I saw them all over NME and they got the front cover of the mag.  I decided to hear and read information on them.  They released there third album last year, "A Different Kind of Fix".  I downloaded the album in early January.  So far so good, but it took me awhile to get into it.  Now I am hooked.  It's a bit folky, but not to much.  I don't know what to expect from them live and let's see if they deliver.  Plus, tonight's show is...SOLD OUT.  I could be wrong, but I think this is there first time here in the states or California.
Bombay.Bicycle.Club.2012
The opening band was okay.  I think there name was DRAKE...I think.  After they went off stage, the Dj started to play some Old Skool 80's Hip-Hop.  I Loved It!  It's so refreshing to hear something different at an event like this and seeing the young kids getting down.
Bombay.Bicycle.Club.2012
Bombay.Bicycle.Club TORE IT UP!!!  I didn't expect them to throw a crazy (the kids kept it together around me), energetic and AMAZING show.  The stage was simple with some cool lights.  They played music from there other albums (that I don't have).  When they played music from there past albums, i looked around and I was amaze that a couple of people around me knew the words.  HARDCORE FANS.  Groovy.
Bombay.Bicycle.Club.2012
After the show, I was not the only one heading to the shirt stand.  There was a mass rush and Thank God I left a few seconds after the last song.  GREAT show and I'll see them again and that's for sure.

Cut.Copy.DJ.Set @Avalon (Hollywood, CA)

Friday.February.10th

When I came to Hollywood and Vine, I saw that The Avalon had a HUGE line going up the block!  This is only a DJ set from Cut Copy. Thank God  I bought my ticket online and  zipped through the line.
Cut.Copy.2012Once inside,  I noticed that they pulled back the stage to make more room for dancing.  Midnight Juggernauts are the opening DJ's and they are doing a AWESUM job.  They are throwing everything in. This is a sign that its going to be a great night.  While I was standing and looking at the Juggernauts spin some good vocal tunes,  I just realized why Cut Copy is here.  There latest album is nominated for a Grammy.  That's so cool and congrats to them on making a fantastic album, Zonoscope.
Cut.Copy.2012FCVK!!! I can not believe I still have gas from that FCVKn Taco Bell bean burrito.  It's been awhile since I had something from Taco Bell.  I had that burrito in the afternoon and I have not stopped since 3pm.  BOY...does it STINK!!  Hahahahaha.

Yes...they just played Moby's, "Go".  Who plays that song now days in there sets?  Oh snaps, they just mixed it with "100 % Pure Love".  That was not the only Crytstal Waters song, they played another 15 minutes later,  "Homeless".
Cut.Copy.2012Ohhhhh $H!T...they just threw  in The Dobbiw Brothers "What A Fool Believes" and I like the fact that people are actually dancing to this stuff.  Could it be because half of the people here are...DRUNK. People are being kicked out around me.  Ahhhh, hey just mixed in Donna Summer, "I Feel Love".
Cut.Copy.2012Cut copy is doing it!!!  They opened up to one of there songs from the Zonoscope album and they started this party just right with "Stomp!" by The Brother Johnsons afterwards.  Dan Whitford and Tim Hoey (Cut Copy)  hit the stage around 12:30 am and they took turns throwing great tunes.  This was a perfect party mix, that I would love a copy of it.  Towards the middle of there set, they played "Hearts on Fire" and the dancefloor got PACKED!  It felt like they where performing the song live because people where getting crazyand so was Dan Whitford.  He was stretching his arms out like he does live.  I think I saw another couple of people getting the boot for being drunk.  After they played "Hearts on Fire", they mixed it with Azari & III "Reckless With You Love" (Perfect) and half of the dancefloor cleared.  Of course, it's no surprise. It's 2:15am and I think this is my exit.  I have no idea how long they played till, but it was a FCVKN AWESUM SET that I really didn't want to leave.
