I thought Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs was gonna play live, but it was a DJ set. Sure enough, once I got in, he was over. :(

This $H*T (HARD) was crazy 2 get in. I do not know how many times I had to show my FCVKn ticket. The ticket they sent me through the mail was a not even a ticket. So I had to stand on this huge line to get my actual ticket. All this bull$H*T made me miss (well catch the last five minutes) "Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs".
destructo,jdn73,hard,nokiaclub
The crowd brought me back to the rave scene in the mid 90s when it was got commercial. The crazy Day-Glo outfits are out (still?!), but no backpacks or glowsticks in sight. Thank God they did not allow that crap in.
fakeblood,jdn73,hard,nokiaclub
Fake.Blood packed the dancefloor. I heard his remixes, but not his DJ mixes and from what I heard, it was good. What a relief from that superstar Dj Destruto. He had his mic to pump up the crowd. Can't his set speak for itself and to top it off, he throws on a video of Charlie Cheen.

Now that I am on the side lines just standing and looking around at the crowd, it's a trip. The security here is so high that I am catching every crazy $H*T that is going on. Kids putting liquor in there water bottles. Some smoking pot up at the balcony and security is busy trying to control the people in the pit from coming in and out. While some are not looking, people are jumping over the rail to get in the pit. Some of the DJ's played classic ElectroClash tunes, Tiga's "Burning Down" and Green Velvet's "La La Land" (both great songs), but they have been remixed in a good way.
simianmobiledisco,jdn73,hard,nokiaclub
Simian Mobile Disco went on around 12:45am. If I would of known that, I would of checked out "Chapel Club" (I am kicking myself for this). SMD's tower is getting smaller each time I see them. They had different lights this time and it was kick a$$. But once again, Simian Mobile Disco threw an AWESUM show, but it was getting late. It was day light savings time today and we had to switch are clocks forward one hour. Once they played "Cruel Intentions", I decided to leave. I was waiting for them to play "Believe" (my favorite track), but who knows if they played it after I left. I got to my car around 1:45am and once it hit 2, it was 3:00am.

Friday.March.11.2011

"He is so hot, that I wanna fuck him", said some girl behind me. Wow, that was shameless and funny at the same time. right on.
starfucker,jdn73
The first time I heard about STARFUCKER was when I found a link to a cover song by Cyndi Lauper "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". They did an AMAZING job covering that song. Based on that, I checked out there music and I was not crazy about there stuff. Even though there music was not grabbing me, I still wanted to check them out live. But everytime they came to town, I was away. I came very close to missing this show. There new album came out Tuesday and I heard small clips of it and sounded really good. So I got my ticket online that Tuesday and when I went to pick them up at will call window, the show was SOLD OUT. Wow, so close.
starfucker,jdn73
Once they came out, the lead singer said, "everytime we play Los Angeles, it does not turn out well". Sure enough, it was a really good show. I was VERY impress. They had a crazy laser like show that people went crazy for. People where into it from what I saw and they brought people on stage on there last song. It seems this time around, the Los Angeles concert turned out well.
starfucker,jdn73
The only thing I was disappointed about, I was hoping they would play Madonna's "Buring Up". It was another FCVKn great cover song they did. You would find that on iTunes. A Must Download. Catch this band and download the new album "Reptilians".

Now that the album is out, I get to hear how it sounds once again. I do not know if you noticed, but bands that are playing Coachella are not allowed to play in Los Angeles. It's funny to me because they should ask them not to play in California, period. Interpol played in San Diego and Santa Barbara and they are on the bill to play Coachella. Doesn't that still kill the purpose? I guess who cares, right. Let's see if I get punched here, which I doubt.
crystalcastles,jdn73
It's 7:30 and there is a line, A HUGE line that is wrapped around the block. It's SOLD OUT and I hope I get on the main floor, if not, it's strike THREE!!!!

$H*T!!!!! Strike three. Dam it to hell. Oh well, let the young ones enjoy. I am by the rails and they have the girl that is on the album over as there back drop. Cool. It's a very young crowd and security here is TIGHT. The Music Box stopped the craziness (I guess no one has filed a lawsuit here yet). I do not know how many times I had to show my ticket.
suuns,jdn73
I have no idea who the opening band was (Suuns), but the girl in front of me went crazy when they came out. As if she has seen The Beatles or Justin Beber (for today's people) for the first time. She grabbed her face and reached out her hand to them. I thought she was gonna faint.

Suuns where okay. They sounded like Clinic (90s band), but with more roughness and loudness. The girl next started to get DOWN. She made me laugh. She heard me and turned around and gave me the devil sing. \m/ "They rock, man!".
crystalcastles,jdn73
At this point, Alice Glass is a Rock Star, she really is. They had a announcer come out and tell us that Crystal Castles almost canceled this tour. Alice Glass broke her leg and the record label told her to stop so she can get well. She told them "FCVK yOu!". Now that is Punk-Rock n Roll.

The drummer came out, then Ethan and her comes Alice walking like a crippled zombie. She had one crutch on one hand and a mic on the other. It was a funny sight to watch that I had to laugh out loud. Who does that? You gotta give it up to her. She rocked this concert as if she was not injured. People next to me started to jump down to the main floor to be part of the chaos. It was crazy down on the main floor. Did I see a glowstick down there? If you have not gone to a Crystal Castle show yet, you gotta go. It's crazy in a good way. It's like going to see a Nine Inch Nails concert with disco beats.

\m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ - Awesome!

How To Dress Well (LiVE!) @the.ECHO (Los Angeles, CA)

Friday.February.25.2011

Another rainy weekend here in Los Angeles. I waited in the car for a bit, but there was no sign of the rain stopping. The parking lot was PACKED (wow, people are out). So I went to see if my secret parking lot was not taken and sure enough, it was not. Nice.

I have no idea what to expect from "How To Dress Well". I only have one track, "Ready For the World" and It's on my November.2010 Podcast mix (my.WAVE). All I know, they are put under Night Bus music (the new Goth). There was no end of the rain stopping, so I rushed out to The Echo.
jdn73,howtodresswell
There was no line (thank GOD!) to get in, but once inside, it was busy. There was a one man band performing already. He was okay.
I walked around for a bit. They started to clear the stage. I noticed they only brought out a mic stand. Hum, another one man band tonight. Interesting.

This is VERY mellow. The guy behind, "How To Dress Well" sounded like Stevie B, but dark and without the dance beats. It was cool after a couple of songs, but I wanted some beats. Something to move with. He had one dance song, but it was stripped to the minimal. I mean, minimal. He called it "the queer dance track" and that $H*T did not sound queer at all. It was still mellow with a couple of small atmospheric beats.

This was perfect music for this rainy day. Time to go home and sleep.
