Hell Yea. Diamond Rings is performing and I can not wait to see what he is all about. I like the videos he has on YouTube. He has something going on.

This is the first night of Check Yo Ponytail 2. It use to be held at Safari Sam's two years ago, I think. Safari Sam's was a cool spot, but what happen to it?! They just closed it after a few year run (I think only two years). I need to look it up. I was reading into "Check Yo Ponytail 2" and the people behind it want to change it up a bit. They want to focus on the bands more then just having a night club. Kind of like CineSpace on Tuesday. I know there is a story behind Dim.Mak Tuesday's and Check Yo Ponytail, but who cares. I am here and who ever gets a good band at either place, i'll be there. Just happens that Check Yo Ponytail got Diamond Ring. There are more bands on the bill. They have "The Naked and Famous" (did they get there name from a Tricky song?) and "Midnight Juggernauts" (again).
diamondrings,jdn73
I arrived early to catch Diamond Rings and once I was inside, it's was very lite. Very lite that I was up in the front. The music is okay that the Dj was playing, but every song was cut short to be mixed in to the next song. Less the a minute or two.

Diamond Rings went on and he is FCVKn tall Canadian. He was by himself wearing gold leggings, blue leather jacket (not his size), all white hightops (I think from Nike) with white socks and a gold chain with little stuff on it. Rock on. He was okay. He played the guitar, the synth and he danced while singing. Now that's talent. He kept me entertained and he was very watchable. The music was very homemade brought to life at a night club. I looked around and I saw some people dancing to his stuff and singing. Cool. He did okay. I would like to see what he does next. \m/ \m/ \m/
diamondrings,jdn73
I stepped out from the front and I noticed that it got busy in here. I guess some of the people are here for the headliner and "The Naked and Famous". Who is this band? They just popped out of nowhere and getting all this attention. Naked was up next and from what I see and hear, it's a step up from Diamond Rings (big time), So far, this is boring to me. The music is VERY polished. If I was working for a major label I would sign them. If I was working for an indie I would not, I would sign Diamond Rings. I could see the intrest of this band. They remind me of Shiny Toy Guns. The sound is cool, but I do not see myself downloading there music anytime soon. Maybe. \m/ \m/

Hey, John O (Diamond Rings guy) just passed by me. He is heading outside to the smoking section. Groovy.

I just googled "The Naked and Famous" and of course they are signed to a major. No $H*T. That explains the people here to see them. It's almost midnight and The Juggernauts have not hit the stage so I am out.

This is my first time here and this $H*T is crazy. They have metal detectors, a grip of security people and some pat downs. Did they not get the memo on the type of crowd they where gonna get?. Thank God I hid my camera. Once I got inside more security. Really?!?! I went straight to the bathroom and there was a HUGE line for the men's and no line at the ladies. Of course.
robyn,jdn73
I took a stroll when I came out of the restroom and It was PACKED! I heard it's sold out. How crazy is that. I just got my ticket last week. I was having second thoughts and then I decided to get my ticket. It was a good thing that I got my ticket, because I would of not known how cool of a size this venue is. BUT! U have to arrive early to get a wristband to be on the main floor. What?!?!?! This is bull and of course no queen is gonna give up her wristband. $UCK$!
robyn,jdn73
Since I could not go down to the floor. I walked around to find a good spot. Sure enough, I noticed the right hand side of the venue is not as busy as the left hand side. I went over and there was less people and a good view of the stage. I was just a few feet away from the rail looking down to the main floor. Then I noticed...the three drunk ladies (men) in front of me. At first they where okay and then they started acting up. The alcohol just kicked in. They where funny at first and then it got a bit over the top trying to be funny. They where craving for attention and they where begging for it. DAM!
robyn,jdn73
Robyn came out wearing this huge letterman hoodie jacket that made her look like a boxer getting ready to show us a great fight and she sure did. She ROCKED it OUT with her platform Timberland boots. The stage was simple. Two drummers (cool), two synth players and her name on the background. No costume changes (besides taking off her jacket), no backup singers or dancers. Just her with her crazy funky dance moves. She was equally as good as Yelle. They kept it simple and they gave us an AWESUM show. Sure enough, the drunk girls got crazy. They where doing there thing until Robyn played "Hang With Me". They started grabbing there friends from the back and pulling them towards them. That's when I shoved one of them and this a$$hole complained. Really? You just FCVKn pushed me that made me hit this girl (real girl) next to me (I did not say this to because I know this is a concert, but be a bit respectful). Of course he kept looking at me and I just ignored him with a smile on my face. Sure enough, they moved. Dickheads.

Robyn did two encores and she closed it off with "Dancing On My Own". Nice. So, does this mean that she will be back again for the release of Body Talk part 3? \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/

Sunny or Johnny and the Sunsets? What ever it is, time to pack it up and go back to San Fransisco. Not digging it.

Another band from San Fran is on this bill called "Weekend". They sound like a band from 1990. It's noise and I can not make out what the lead singer is saying. It's very shoegazer. I noticed that the lead singer loves playing with his hair...ALOT! He keeps rubbing it to have that "I just got out of bed look". He needs to stop so they can wrap this up.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. What can I say. Thank god I did not get a shirt. I can not believe I missed Home Video for this. At least I heard the song I like; "Young Adult Friction". They started to bore me because every other song sounded the same. They had this happy happy joy joy kind of sound that makes you bop your head side to side. It was not for me. They did not have a ballad. Now I know why I did not download the whole album. Man, I missed Home Video!

There is a huge line for people who do not have tickets (that's a good sign). That's awesome that she has this really good turnout. It's crazy that she is touring without a new album out (White Lies did it, why can she, right?), but she does have a new single; "La musique" that just came out. This is my first Yelle show. I always keep missing her when she is in town. I never hear anything about her shows, so hear I go.

I am inside and it's a bit busy. I have no idea if the people outside are gonna get in. I am looking into the crowd and I see the skinny jeans, the plaid, the 80's hair do's, leggings and the cool kids. Something that was missing at Gary Numan's concert.
yelle,jdn73,echoplexyelle,jdn73,echoplex
The first band just went on and it felt like we where part of a joke. The beats are cool, but he yells and bounces to much. He is preaching more then singing. Oh no, he just released some balloons from his cape. Okay, this is crazy. Oh $H*T, he just released confette after a crazy speech on STD. Why can't we throw $H*T at bad performer's here? I guess we are more civilized here, but we should. At least paper cups, just for fun. This is CRAZY.
yelle,jdn73,echoplexyelle,jdn73,echoplex
OKAY. This was the $H*T! Yelle KiLLED iT! She opened up with this crazy heavy percussion song that just blew me away. The crowd was getting a bit rough and some people around me gave up. I was standing my ground and sure enough I get this drunk chick standing next to me acting like a a$$hole. I always get some kind of moron and they don't think they are at fault. She called me an a$$ (wow, so original) because I would not give her space. FCVK YOU, PUTA! This bitch just pushed to the front with her other drunk friends and she calls me a name. I just ignored her looking to the stage straight ahead and she complained about me to her friends. Funny. I could see them looking at me, but I was busy watching a concert. Sure enough, they moved. I guess it was my feet in the way. Ooops. The drunk chicks moved away for some strange reason (HAHAhhahaha) and they did not ruin this amazing show. It's crazy that she has this following because she only sings in French. That's awesome. She spoke to us in english and pumped us up on every song. They played some new one's that sound so promising. When they played the old stuff, the crowd went crazy. This was the place to be tonight and the kids where having a blast here. I could go on about the concert, but you have to go and experience yourself. There was no crazy light show, costume changes or dancers. It was her and two other male band members that ROCKED this place out. RIGHT ON! See you at the next Yelle concert. \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/

FCVK! I am tired of this hot weather. It was 95 yesterday and today is 90 but it feels 100. I want the cold and the rain from last week. Besides my rant about the weather, I am so excited to see Gary Numan tonight. I never seen him live and I was bend out of shape when he did not perform at Coachella this year because of the volcano. I heard alot of good things about him live so let's see. I read that he is playing "The Pleasure Principle" album only. AWESUM!
garynuman,jdn73garynuman,jdn73
I walked in and I went straight for the shirt stand and then I realized, "he owns his own plane, he doesn't need money". I left and headed to the main floor. I looked around and it's a older crowd. Did not see anyone under 30 here at all. Some of these older folks don't care how they come to a concert. I see some of them wearing shorts with flip-flops. I know its warm out, but come on, put a little effort. Did not see any cool kids with skinny jeans, Toms, Converse, asymmetrical haircuts or plaid.
garynuman,jdn73garynuman,jdn73
Over the P.A. I hear them playing Zola Jesus "Night" (beautiful song) being played. The person next to me thought it was Fever Ray. Okay. I heard this guy talking to his friend that he was here for The Knife concert (I was too). Would he not know that? I had to correct him. There was another person next to me wanting to know who was playing and I told him. I am the Zola Jesus promoter.
garynuman,jdn73
Gary Numan went on at 10 something and he was on it! He sounded great. I wonder why he decided to play "Cars" towards the middle of the show. I guess people expected that song to finish the night (like me). After they played that song, they cleared the stage of his synths. They brought him out a guitar and that's when it went into his electro hard rock set. It sounded good. It reminded me of Nine Inch Nails (I was trying to look for Trent in the crowd) and IAMX. I was looking around and some people where out of it. It seemed like they wanted to hear the old stuff. They woke up when he played a really cool remake of, "Are "Friend's" Electric?". It was Awesum. After that, he went off stage and came back with his hardcore electro rock stuff for three songs. Some people where into it and some where not. I heard about his rock stuff and it was okay. Over all, he was good. Rock on Gary! \m/

It's election day and we have a new Governor (hell YEA! Arnold is O.U.T.). Prop 8 and 19 did not pass (DAM!), but we have a new Governor. New Governor! New Governor! I am so HAPPY!
Here I am once again to see Two.Door.Cinema.Club. and they killed it tonight, again. Before the concert started, I went to checkout the shirts and they had a couple of new ones. Did not buy any because I like the one I bought last time at The Troubadour. I went to the main floor and it was packed. Funeral Party just finished up and TDCC is up next. It's only 9:30pm. That was fast.
twodoorcinemaclub,jdn73twodoorcinemaclub,jdn73
Two.Door.Cinema.Club where FCVKN AMAZING! They played a new song that was really good. Can not wait to get my hands on it when they release it. I noticed that the crowd was not dancing. What is wrong with the people here?! Sure enough, towards the end, people where dancing. Thank God! I was about to say. \m/ ROCK ON! \m/

October.23.2010

No I am not a hardcore Interpol fan, it just happen that this one went on sale first. When I heard they where gonna play at Pomona, I prefard see them there then here. Interpol is a band that needs to be seen indoors then outdoors. It was a good thing that I did not sell this ticket.

I went straight to shirt stand and got my shirt (just to let you know, I washed it and the MTHRFCVR shrunk!). From there, I went to the bathroom. There was this guy next to me, barfing. The show has not even started yet. A couple of people where making fun of him. Of course you had a jerk to call him a "Faggot". Wow, you would think, but of course.
interpol,jdn73,greektheater
It's 60 degrees tonight and the scarfs, beanies and layering is out in full force. Groovy. I walked around for a bit and The Greek felt like a little carnival. They had tents that sold stuff like beer, kettle corn, posters and so on. I went back to my seat and sure enough, I had drunks around me. They behaved, but what's up with the FCVK food shopping during the show. It was non-stop. One after the other. So I had them walk behind me.
interpol,jdn73,greektheater
Interpol went on and they FCVKn killed IT! They where better here then the Pomona show. I was hoping the opposite, but they where on it. Interpol played more songs from the first album and four encore songs! The playlist was the same, but they tweaked it. When they played "Try It On" (new song), I noticed a bunch of people got up. Hey, that's a good song.

It got crazy down at the pit on the last 30 minutes of the show. People got up on stage and once up there, they where tacked by security. That $H*T was crazy. The last person that went up there took the mic and the stand (Paul Banks mic stand) with him and he would not let go. So they dragged him off the stage with the mic and stand. That left Paul mic less for a couple of seconds and pickless. Paul kept it cool with the whole thing. AWESUM!
interpol,jdn73,greektheater
After this AMAZING show, I bumped into my friend Blanca (hello Blanca!). She spotted me and we hungout for a bit. She just arrived from watching Interpol at Vegas last nite(WOW!). She also went 2 Pomona. Now that's a true fan, but she did not go to the San Diego show (shame on you). Blanca was a bit out of it because she only had a couple of hours of sleep from the Vegas trip. She was here with her cousins (I think, I forgot, sorry).

We where hangout and she wanted to stick around to met the band. I was down for it. While we where waiting, Blanca introduced me to a couple of ladies who she met on line that went to the same shows as she did (Groupie's!). They are here to hunt the band out. We stuck around to almost everyone left, but there was just a couple of us still here. This is fun because I never done this before. I might get to meet the band. Cool.
interpol,jdn73,greektheater
We where outside of The Greek and sure enough, I see Paul Banks walking to his tour bus. Kids where yelling his name and he would wave at them. This is so interesting. I feel like a groupie. Paul Banks came back out and went inside a car that was parked next to the bus. I was thinking "These kids are gonna rush the car" and they DID NOT! WHAT?!?!?!? They just stood there and yelled his name while the car just went by us. Lame A$$ fans. If I was 16 or so, I would be on the hood of the car or I would of ran to my car and followed him. Some kids left, but others waited for the band to come out. We stuck around for a couple of minutes and then we decided to leave. Blanca has met the band before so she was done. I went home and Blanca texted me that Paul came back and he signed and took pic's with the fans that where left. DAM!!!!!!

I have been waiting for this band to come back and I am excited to see what they are all about. The security today at the Fox is not as crazy at it was for Interpol. It was calmer and the people too.

DAM! I was 2 people away from being on the floor. If I was not on the phone outside I would of been down there. $H*T! I hung out by my spot once again. The first band was on and it was.......BAD. I went to the shirt stand and Delphic had a shirt that was not my type of shirt. I went back to my spot and I noticed it got a bit crowded. I guess people do like Temper Trap. I saw them at Coachella and they bored me.
delphic,jdn73delphic,jdn73
Delphic came on and they where great. It's crazy how you can tell a bad band from a great one. Delphic should of been the headliners for this tour. Every song they played was hit after hit. What does Temper Trap have? That hit song "Sweet Disposition"? That song is was, 2 years old and it's hitting just now. That's crazy and very good for them. But they are not for me. Delphic KICKED A$$ and Temper Trap was zzzzzzzz.
